Super unique museum! Basically this guy built a house on a rock fur seclusion, then opened it up to the public after his friends offered to pay to see his house. Then the museum additions started. There's a pretty cool observation area overlooking the cliff. The originator, who has since passed, was a major collector of things (borderline hoarder ;), including the largest carousel in the world--unfortunately you can't ride it though. You'll get tokens (we got 4 with our 3 ticket hotel/museum combo) to use throughout the exhibits for the mechanical displays. They are 25 cents a piece and you can buy more at machines throughout. If you run out and you hang around an exhibit long enough someone else will likely use a coin and you can enjoy. We actually thought the coins were for a carousel ride so make sure you use them before you get to the end! Oh and there is a massive octopus fighting a whale statue that is incredible. We spent 4 hours going through everything. If you're a big history buff or like to look at every item displayed you could spend an entire day here. You get a discount if you stay at either the House on the Rock Inn or Resort 10 minutes away. I just wish the museum was open past 5pm as check in time is 3pm at the hotels. There are 3 separate sections that you can break up into a couple days if you want to.

A total sensory overload that breaks you down as you walk for miles around the most eclectic of collections.

When you are at the very edge of mental and physical exhaustion, having believed you have seen everything you turn the corner and are greeted by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and will, for a moment, believe they are actually standing in front of you. By the end I genuinely started to think I was on the verge of having a psychological breakdown.

Hand on heart I don't know if I could recommend visiting, or even if I enjoyed it. I wouldn't discourage anyone from visiting. It is an attraction that needs experiencing.

This place is definitely a “different” place! It is sure to get all your senses going and may stimulate your mind a little to much. Mr. Jordan was for sure a very unique man. There was so much to see at this place and it was all very interesting. If you have kids I wouldn’t plan on reading much of anything, especially if you go on the ultimate tour(do all three sections), b/c it definitely makes for a long day. There is so much to see and experience at House on the Rock. They have two really nice little restaurants within and a few places to get a sip of water as well.

A truly memorable, fantastic, fanciful destination that is sure to strike the fancy of anyone and everyone alike. No matter your interest or hobby, your favorite style or era You are undoubtedly promised a collection you'll find truly stroking. House On The Rock delivers as a perfect, reasonably priced attraction for the young and old alike, be it on your own or entertaining a crowd this is the place for you. Just be sure to bring your walking shoes and an open mind as this amazing destination earns it's way into your heart. Consider staying at the Inn for added savings and interesting sights!

We decided to go back for our fourth trip here. We went during the week off season and it was great. We were able to enjoy all the old and new exhibits without the crowds. It amazes us how much information in each exhibit is found. I am sure everyone would find this place interesting and fun.

Fantastically eclectic attraction. An amazing architectural feat (check out the infinity room for sure, brilliant use of forced perspective.)

In order to see the whole thing you apparently have to arrive at least 4 hours before they close, so if you want to see the carousel plan on getting there early.

Definitely worth a return visit.

Amazing! This place is a collection of very creative and artistic creations! Fascinating, bazaar and beautiful all crammed into one endless package. If you plan to see all of the attractions, give yourself at least a full day unless you want to be rushed.

This place is HUGE and full of all sorts of amazing things. It was a non-stop adventure for the full 3 hours.

Be prepared to walk a lot; there are plenty of spots to rest and rehydrate along the way though.

I came after reading American Gods and learning that The House on the Rock is a real place. It was well worth the price of admission!

Really did not enjoy. There were a few interesting things to see but overall it felt like an exercise in observing what develops when one man never knew when enough was enough. My husband and I practically ran out of there. We did all three sections and it just kept getting worse. Go if you want, but know that there are much better ways to spend your money. Also, even walking by the bathrooms smelled and I couldn't help but notice dead bugs and dust around the exhibits. My happiest moment was when my husband told me we never had to go back. The gardens were nice and the infinity room was interesting.

This place is the most interesting experience I've ever had. You walk into a room and it's something so crazy and unexpected, but then the next room is bigger and better. My jaw was literally dropped the whole time (which I recommend trying against that because it is a little dusty). It's something that can't be captured in pictures because it's just so massive, and it's also crazy that it's inside a house. Be sure you have time to enjoy it, because this isn't a side attraction--its the main event

It's interesting for sure. The carousel and scale of the collection is amazing. We bought 4 tickets (2 kids 2 adults) for the full self guided tour which was around $90, so it wasn't cheap. Took us about 4 hours to get through it. We had to skip some of the areas because of the smell. I don't want to put the place down too much as I'm sure it's a challenge for them to clean a place like this. They need to get a handle on the air conditioning and de-humidification. Box fans and home size de-humidifiers ain't gonna do it. You need to bring in fresh air, cool it way down, and then reheat it to pull the moisture out. This is what all museums do. Hopefully they can figure out a way to do it. It's a collection worth saving.

We visited exhibit 1 only. Overall it was nice experience, you see something different than usual. The infinity room was the most important attraction. It is worth visiting once. However, I am not a history buff to pay $15 for the same attraction.

I liked the place, but won't come back ever again. We came as group of 4. Everyone found place very interesting. All of us would like to spend more time walking around, however we are allergic to dust in some shape or form. Quiet an unpleasant experience being trapped in a huge building full of dust. By the end of the trip I was itching all over rushing to get home so i can jump in the shower, unfortunately home is 3 hours away. 30$ admission is reasonable if they had someone keeping up with this place, but clearly they don't. Its funny that i talked to my friends and relatives about place being cool, but filthy and all of them had exactly same complaint on dust, even though they all visited different years, some of them going back 7 years. I really hope management takes notice of that cleans their act up, quiet literally.

Once cleaned up I would love to come back and spend a day there, walking slowly reading description for everything and dropping tokens in all music machines.

Just another 5 star satisfied customer. I wont say anything different than the other 5 star reviews, so I'll keep it short and sweet. Logan and Kyle did an impeccable job inspecting the house. They were on time, thorough, and willing to answer any questions. By coming to inspect in two's, they cut down on inspection time without sacrificing quality. The report was very clear, with pictures and great details. I would absolutely recommend using House on the Rock to friends and family.
