Service was good, but at lunchtime the service could have been faster. No time to order entre.

What an unexpected blessing! My long time college bestie and I chose to meet somewhere and share a meal half way between our homes. I found this adorable little tavern and grill on the web. When I got there, there was an incredibly more upscale place called the Happ Inn. Wow! Gorgeous and great menus! Food was fantastic and we'll be back! The chef even came out to greet us. Thanks for a wonderful evening. Gina and Chris

Bartender doesn't seem to like people.? Gumbo was less than memorable. Flatbread was fresh, tho.

Welcomed us 25 minutes before closing saying, glad you’re here. Great burgers, and the best bacon!

Quaint and warm atmosphere with an amazing daily drink special and awesome guacamole and chips. A gentleman by the name of Jim welcomed us and made us feel so special that we came back. He truly was the reason we came back. You can buy a drink anywhere but you cannot always world class service. The Happ is my new favorite place and I've been telling everyone about it.

A large upscale neighborhood restaurant. This is a friendly place, everyone seems to know everyone. A beautiful bar, located off the entrance, is stocked, literally, to the ceiling. The menu is extensive and includes vegan and gluten free items. The baked goods, including the house baked bread, contain eggs. That's important if you're a vegan. Our table of seven, order pretty much the extent of the menu. The report: everything was well cooked and presented. I had a humus with cut vegetables. It's not on the menu. You may order by phone and pick up. Wheelchair-accessible including bathrooms. Free parking.

Our go to neighborhood restaurant. We do takeout quite a bit from this location. Excellent Cobb chicken salad. Great burger. Dining in was phenomenal too. There was a simple mistake on our order and they comped us the order and gave us a dessert. Now that's customer service that will keep customers coming back. Can't recommend this place enough!

Went for Easter Brunch. Nice appetizer/dessert buffet, great food, but terrible service. Server came by to ask for our drinks, then to get our order, then as I sat with an empty glass and plate for 30 mins while picking at what was left of my garnish I finally flagged someone else down to ask for another drink. 15mins later it came out via a runner, and it took me searching around for her for the check after that. We probably could have finished off another 3 drinks and more food, but nobody ever came around. And it wasn't that busy that it was like she was overloaded - she was just gone. I was looking forward to this being a 2-3 hour experience of food and drink, but our server NEVER came around to allow that to happen. We just sat there most of the time.

Oh, and then the check comes out with a 20% service charge. For a party of 2. Thanks. Did they think I wasn't one to tip for good service (I do, and generously - service is 90% of why I eat out)?

Food was well worth the price, but the less-than-mediocre service really was irritating. I'll give the restaurant another try because the food was great and front door staff was really nice, with the hope that this poor service experience was just an anomaly.

Nothing beats Happ Inn for a special lunch (I have not been there for dinner) on the North Shore of Chicago. Service is excellent and owner Carlos Nieto, yes of Carlos Restaurant famous in Highwood for its many stars, offers interesting food, some flavored with his Mexican origin.
