My book club meets here and it's great for a small group discussion. Everyone can get their food up front and pay for it at the counter, and as long as you make a reservation, there is room for a group of 6 or so people. The staff is great too! One time, one of the wait staff asked which book we had read because the discussion sounded so interesting!
I love the Grey Dog! It's a great place to chat or work with a group of friends. There's always plenty of room on a weekday- super rare for a Manhattan coffeeshop! Their coffee is amazing, and I'm a big fan of their smoked salmon toast bites. Delicious, filling, and completely worth the price!
Breakfast and coffee is amazing and I go here all the time. Prices are kinda high but it's worth it. The only reason I gave three stars is because I have seen a few bugs in the restaurant . I would get your food to go and eat it anywhere else.
Food: Very Good
Portions: Good
Speed: Slow
Service: Very Good
I absolutely love this little cafe. In fact the others are good as well (there are 4 in lower Manhattan). The quirky decor is fun, the food is delicious and the drinks are always hot or cold. From the street it looks small, but once inside there is plenty of rooms for friends to share a meal. It feels like home.
Lovely cozy place with very decent breakfast items and excellent sandwiches.
3 stars since experience has been quite uneven. Dined there many times with not many issues. Today forgot our order, made us wait 40 minutes. Upon inquiry said that it will be out ASAP. Waited almost 20 more minutes and gave up since we had to run and stuff wasn’t very apologetic about it either.
Admittedly partially refunded us, so there’s that. But 18something bucks isn’t worth the frustration.
This place was so cute and the staff were super nice and responsive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
Lovely, cosy place at any daytime. Descend breakfast options and tasty sandwiches reasonably priced for NYC. Staff is super friendly and remembers you after the first visit.
What can I say? I love Grey Dog. It ain't cheap but it's an awful lot of fun and the food is good. Really nice service. I go a lot.
We went to the Grey Dog for a late brunch Friday before our flight out of NYC and had a wonderful time. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is tasty and it comes in ample portions for sharing. Free coffee refills were also greatly appreciated. In particular, we really loved how spacious it was; we had no problem tucking away our excessive luggage while eating. Would definitely recommend if you're in the Chelsea area!
Smells like coffee this morning and not much of a coffee drinker. BUT(big but) I actually didn't eat here. I was doing a pick-up for Postmates. I had a good experience just picking up food. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The order did take a bit to come out but I guess they just doing it right. I came for business but I'll be back for pleasure soon.
My all-time favorite place to brunch in NYC. It's unconventional because you line up inside and while you're waiting, a staff member will assign you a table so by the time you get to the counter and order, you can sit down and wait for them to bring your food. Portion sizes are enormous, and the staff is so friendly and relaxed, it makes for a wonderful dining experience.
Whenever someone comes to visit me here, I always drag them to The Grey Dog.
Nice American fare. Their specials are usually worth trying instead of the standard times like Philly cheese-steak. Good beers on tap like their Nitro Stout.
Coffee: great. Food: passable for most places; "quite good" for a place you'd come to mainly for coffee. Good laptop working place.
Great breakfast options and amazing house blend tea! I'm trying to stay away from coffee for a while and I'm exploring interesting tea options - this was a blast.
They discourage staying there for too long and using laptops while there - which is fine, because, given that this is not a "traditional" coffee shop.
The coffee smelled great but I couldn't try it as I was in a coffee break, so can't say anything about that but do try the house blend tea.
This place is GREAT!!!!!!!!
My meal was stellar! The French toast was soft and the potatoes were crispy! Best of all my poached eggs were soft and runny, just the way I like them! The service was even better. I made a mistake with my order and they very cheerfully fixed it even though it was my fault. We had an excellent cup of hot apple cider. My only complaint is that the bacon was tuff and chewy, but they make up for it with stellar service. You should definitely come here if you can.
