The food is decent and the atmosphere is nice. Our waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there, so that was off-putting. They have a really nice outdoor patio that would be perfect for enjoying a beer on a nice summer night.

Great restaurant nestled in downtown Bellefonte. Homemade pub food with fresh flavors and great selection. Wait staff friendly and efficient. Has full menu with daily specials. Includes both indoor and outdoor seating. Fresh homemade desserts too!

Stopped there for the first time today on the way to drop off my daughter at Penn State. The menu had a lot of good looking choices. I was not disappointed. Food was really good and relatively quick. They also had an interesting choice of craft beers on tap. Some good brews from some of the best micro breweries. I will be back!

Our favorite spot in Bellefonte since moving here in early 2017! The food is always great, the atmosphere wonderful and the staff is very friendly! My go-to meal is the Talleyrand Chicken Club. Oh, and did I mention they have the best french fries I've ever had?

We have enjoyed GP food for as long as I can remember. Their corned beef Reuben sandwiches are inconsistent, but excellent most of the time. Last night was the first time in years that we actually ate at the restaurant instead of grabbing takeout. The atmosphere is pretty good for a Bellefonte restaurant, but I was taken aback by the resident fly populationat least 3-4 flying around the dining area at any given time. My dinner was very good, but it made me lean toward takeout for next time. I only hope the flies don't migrate to the kitchen.

Food was excellent, sweet patio, nice indoors. Bar and menu were above average,as were prices for central PA. Overall much better value than expected. Hostess seemed confused but Rebecca took exceptional care of our party. Definitely recommended for anyone wanting a quality experience!

Governors pub isnt what people think when they walk by. Hands down this restaurant has the best food for the best price and the portions are lovely. Staff is great and theres even a BRAND new bar downstairs. Cooks especially the new guy does a phenomenal job. Food is homemade as well so..GREAT JOB GUYS AND GALS!

The restaurant came recommended but we left extremely disappointed.
Upon arriving it took ten minutes to be seated, with only one other table in the entire establishment taken by customers, the two waitresses on staff had to count their tips on the bar before they could seat us. It seemed like only after I told our party that we should go somewhere else were we seated.
My party thought the waitress had an attitude, I didn't notice. The meal was good but we were left to ourselves and were never checked on once our food was out. There was a couple in the other room about five feet away from us and we saw them being checked on often. Locals I presume?
Our waters went dry, everyone had an alcoholic beverage and wanted more. We would have easily ordered more from the bar and even dessert, we were planning on enjoying our stay awhile longer but decided to move elsewhere when we just couldn't get any follow up service. Our dishes even piled up on the tables, never to be removed.
We would have easily doubled our bill with dessert and drinks, the food was good and it's a cool hangout spot, but the inattentiveness of the wait staff let us run dry and we continued our night in one of the other spots around town who acted like they wanted our business.response / report this review -

I have been here half a dozen times and the food was always really good as was the service. Be forward, it's a little more high end than what you might thing for "pub" fare but they always have unique dishes that are tasty.

We've had mixed experiences here. Mostly with slow service. Tonight was phenomenal though. Best food we've had in State College area for awhile. Great vegetarian lasagna and short ribs! Even have a chic new bar. Reminded us to get out of our usual places (Gigi's, Field, Ale House,) more often. Thanks for making our evening fantastic!

Select items that people in Central PA eat at bars, and you will have an excellent dining experience. Venture off into the land of gourmet-sounding monthly specials and you're on own. Outstanding selection of beer, and a capable and knowledgeable bar staff. Service is excellent, and if you can catch JT for trivia night, you win.

Poor! poor! poor! service. We, 2 friends and I, visited to eat lunch. We waited over 40 minutes to receive our food. When we had to return to work before being served, they had not even started cooking our Reubens. THEY MADE US PAY FOR OUR DRINKS!!!
