There is absolutely no reason why you should pay $200 to stay in this hotel. I've called a few times to try and speak to a manager to get at least a partial refund with no luck. We arrived late on a Saturday night for a quick night's stay on 11/18/17. If we hadn't arrived so late at night I would have gone out and found another hotel. We were told at the front desk about a $35 resort fee - which is not on their website, and I was not told about this when I called to make the reservations. The "resort fee" gets you roof access and continental breakfast - neither of which we utilized. When we walked into the hotel room all the windows were wide open, and the carpet had huge stains. It wasn't a good first impression and things just got worse. The room stunk when we closed the windows - which we had to due to the noise and the "cigarette" smoke coming from the street. The safe in the room didn't work. Our bathroom window located in the shower was cracked - almost shattered completely and covered in duct tape. The bathroom floor had glass and grout on it - I got glass in my feet. I was scared to put my bags on the floor and it's a good thing I didn't - the room had fleas. I washed everything when I got home, but I got bites on my ankles. The sad thing is the hotel could be charming. The staff seem nice enough, it's a good location, but management doesn't spend the money to clean the carpet or fix the hazardous broken glass in the window? I could see paying $80 for this considering the beachfront location, but not $200 for a stained carpet and broken window in the shower. If the management reads this please contact me. Thanks.
The hotel itself has a beautiful view of the beach. Parking is a little tight, but manageable. The room prices don't reflect the actual quality of the room, carpet stains, modern look but doesn't feel quite right. Either way, if you're there for a night out to drink at the local bars, it's a great spot to walk from. Lyft around the area was cheaper then uber. If you just want to have go out to have fun bit don't care too much about the rooms, this is a good place. Either way everything around this area is expensive anyways.
TERRIBLE PLACE DO NOT COME HERE EVEN AS A LAST RESORT!!! It's defiantly not worth the price you pay, the hotel is dirty, there's no parking and on top of that they messed up my rooms and got mad started yelling and cussing at me and my husband for being upset. Expected me to park in a handy cap spot disregarding me getting a ticket. I have videos of the front counter gentleman cussing and yelling at us and also me trying to be calm and respectful definitely going to the BBB about this.
I'll start with the positive. The staff at the front desk were fantastic, engaging, smiling and genuinely friendly. That's it for The good.
The photos on the website are really great at doing their job, which is making you think this place is super clean and retro cool.
It has some retro aspects but it was dirty and in need of some significant help. Hot water lasted about 5 minutes in the shower. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
*** update somehow the photos that show the real colors got deleted
The rooms are very old and there is no cleaning, it's dirty and the carpet it's with a lot of different stains. Horrible. They charge $25.00 for parking and 20 for roof access and tv which you cannot say no.
Hi took my family to Venice beach and came across this hotel online first didn't know what to expect but happy to say place was awesome yes a little outdated gives it a modern vintage look, we stayed in the suite on the 3rd floor with a great beach front look. Staff was great since the moment we got there Jeff treated us well allowed us to do an early check in, there no air conditioning but there's no need honestly ceiling fans & opening the windows every morning to a beach front look was quite refreshing. Yes there are homeless people outside but thats everywhere in California and honesty they never bothered us once Great Job u guys thx Jeff your night crew is awesome and we will definitely be back again.. 😊
Pros: Great location right on Venice Beach. Awesome roof access for views, breeze, and people watching. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Great restaurants nearby. Cons: Limited parking is very tight. No AC so not pleasant if temps above 85. Street is pretty loud below with performers, vagrants yelling, and loud car stereos. It's a party scene, not a serene beach so plan accordingly.
Beware, this hotel does not look like it does in the pictures. It is 2 stars at best, essentially NO Parking, charges for breakfast (you don't have a choice), but it's only muffins & bagels, rooms are clean but plain & tiny. View out of it is of dirty rooftops. You are paying for a bed to sleep in and the beach access.
I would like to give this place more stars because of the friendly staff and great location ( nice views over the beach and strip) but it's difficult because the place is incredibly noisy. Pretty much every time someone moves in the neighboring room, you can feel the building shaking. Also because it's location on the strip and badly isolated windows, the party goers are heard loud and clear!
This will be a long review, if you'd like the short version, scroll to the bottom. First, my daughter and I arrived at around 8:30-9 at night. There was no parking in the hotel parking lot. We drove around for awhile looking for safe and close parking. I ended up having to pay more money for a public lot that was close. This is not by fault of the hotel, just giving people a heads up if you arrive later at night. Next, the hotel said they did not have my reservation. I showed them my two night confirmation from Groupon. I was able to stay one night, but they were booked for the second night of my stay. I was told that I will be receiving a refund. The gentleman at the first desk was very nice and apologetic. At check-in, a photocopy was made of my ID and card, which I thought was weird, but at this point I was frustrated and tired. We were "upgraded" since our reservation didn't show and he waived the boutique fee. The room was pretty big because it was a family room. It had a full kitchen, king bed, and bunk bed. The bathroom was renovated and nice. As stated in previous reviews, the carpet was dirty and/or old. My view from the window was of the building (pictured below). You need to keep the window open since there was no AC, but I knew this from reading the website. However, there was a lot of yelling and music, which was annoying for my child and me. We went to sleep just fine, though. Before checkout we went to the rooftop, which was absolutely beautiful, as long as you don't look straight down into the commune of homeless that are right outside the hotel entrance. The elevator wasn't working in the morning, so we lugged our stuff down the stairs. The gentleman at checkout (which was a different guy than the previous night) was a little rude when I asked about any cancellations for the night and then my refund, more like he had other stuff to do. Overall, the stay would have been great if I was there for a girls' weekend or with friends, but for a family outing it wasn't the best. My daughter was a little freaked out with the neighborhood at night. I need to mention that the next day I received a call from my bank about fraudulent charges to my card from two different gas stations in the area I was at (I did not get gas anywhere in LA). I called the hotel to ask about the procedure with my card being copied by the concierge and was told that is customary and the copy is shredded after the guest checks out. But, it seemed too coincidental. Just be aware.
So, the rating of a 2: decent hotel, great rooftop view, sketchy area at night, ugly room view for me, noisy, elevator issues, not very family friendly, dirty carpet
So I Booked my room for this hotel thinking I was going to have a nice anniversary get a way on the beach with my wife. But when i got to the hotel to surprise my wife they tell me that im sorry your reservation was canceled because we over book, so you can not stay here. so they said they paid for another room at a totally different hotel not even close to the beach what we paid for and a much worse hotel then the Cadillac. They also said that if we want to get refund we need to contact the site we booked with to try and get a refund. even though it is the hotels responsibility to make sure they have a room ready. about a day later i was able to contact the manager Jeff to see if there was anything he could do so we could get our night that we paid for in the hotel we paid for. Jeff said there was nothing he could do but see about $30 off our next visit. even though we paid to stay in the Cadillac not some worse hotel away from the beach. i was hoping to have a great experience. As a business owner my self i know that great costumer service is everything.
Our room with one double bed was very simple but very clean and comfortable. No air conditioning but it's February and the ceiling fan with the big, open window provided more than enough cool air. Sitting in bed, we could see the beach and the ocean waves as well as a little of the boardwalk. The location is amazing. This was our first trip to Venice, CA and to the Cadillac but we're already recommending it and will definitely return!
