I would say my stay in the 1661 Inn is wonderful. The staff is very helpful and responsive to our needs. The room is clean and tidy. The breakfast buffet is great, especially the croissant and omelet, and my friend comments on the food saying that the chief cooks better even than those in those start hotels. If we have a chance to revisit the island, we would definitely choose 1661 Inn.
An amazing stay over Columbus day weekend! Breakfast overlooking the ocean and wine and cheese in the afternoon! Best stay on Block Island!
Great inn on block open in shoulder and winter seasons. Awesome brunch and "wine and nibbles" if you're a guest. Convenient location walkable from the ferry with ~10 parking spaces for those with cars. Make sure you visit their farm across the street!
Our accommodations at the 1661 Inn were deplorable. The Honora room at the Dodge cottage is not acceptable accommodations for paying guests. "Cottage" is a nice name for a rooming house. It was dirty inside and out, property inadequately maintained, the room was unbearably hot, with standing floor fans. With fans blowing and windows wide open, there was not a breath of air. Certainly not like the pretty picture posted on the website., don't be fooled! Their breakfast buffet is very good and the farm across from the inn was wonderful. I will never return to the 1661 Inn after this experience.
Beautiful, historic, and the staff is very nice. The champagne breakfast is a great start to a vacation day.
Great rooms at the guest house.. The breakfast here is amazing.. Free if you are a guest.. But if not, you can also pay for it. Wine & Nibbles and 4pm round off the day. It's pricey but you get what you pay for. Book early!
The cottages are very clean, whenever we need service, the issue would be fixed pretty quickly, and I enjoyed the complimentary coffee and cookies. The only downside is that there is no air conditioning.
We have been to Block Island a few times and would have loved to stay at the Inn 1661. I was excited to make my reservation, not realizing that in September there is very limited ferry service to BI. Beware if trying to stay during the week for a more reasonable room rate, because you cannot get a ferry back to Long Island from Montauk or New London, CT. I actually called the Ferry in CT and they said they ran. I feel the Inn should at least express this upon booking. I mentioned that to the reservationist and was told that it was my responsibility to check that. It was disappointing having to cancel my adventure (at a cost to me), but hope this review helps anyone looking to stay there during September/October during the weekdays.
was a dream. The hotel was superb. Its perfectly located for walks along the shore or to the light house. Good service. We enjoyed every minute.
Very rustic feel to the room I stayed in. If that's what you're looking for then this will be perfect. There was no wifi and the TV only had like 5 channels. This inn consists of a number of separate cottages though so I can only speak for the one I stayed in. But the location of the cottage was nice, well within walking distance of a number of restaurants.
Fantastic place. Special touches abound. Spectacular oceanfront location with outstanding views. Simply fantastic breakfast. Afternoon wine and cheese a great touch. I highly recommend this inn.
