Poor Customer Service. This branch cannot communicate with India counterparts in this day and age. Cannot provide any assistance to NRIs except attestation. Are they notaries or a bank with international footprint?

Also the operator hung up before I could thank for time. They need some training in customer service.

The woman sitting at the front desk is VERY RUDE. Every paper she touches she puts her finger in her mouth then touches the paper and hand to you while she is sneezing. We went in to open an account, she started speaking in Hindi assuming that we will understand her. Subsequently refused to let us meet a banker saying that ‘we are a very small bank and we are short of people, you cannot talk to a banker till you fill out a form bring your tax returns and utility bills’ I asked if a manager is available, she said manager is at lunch without even checking, it was around 130pm, 210 still no manager. The woman didn’t even bother to ask if we were done and while the people who work in the bank could be heard laughing and talking in Hindi we sat and waited.

They should change the bank timing from 9 to whenever the person, who is ready to bring cash from the safe to the cashier. This is the second time that's happening. You take an hour off from your work to get things done at the bank, and the poor cashier has to wait until the cash is brought to her from the safe. It is ridiculously waste of our work time too.

SBI, the most trusted brand in the banking horizon in India, has had a remarkable presence for over 40 years in the US, with the opening of it’s CHICAGO branch in 1975. The branch is FDIC insured and offers a bouquet of services to the clients by dedicated verticals for Corporate Credit, Trade Finance, Deposits and Remittances.

Thank you for everything, much appreciate all your help and extended support to complete ONLINE & MAIL requests.
Just excellent, truly impressed with all SBI Chicago has delivered in terms of above and beyond customer service.

People and organizations around should learn from you and team working with SBI Chicago.

I even love the online transaction rights which have been provided, though simple in nature and having limitations, it is still good.
And I am sure that you are working on this so that more functionalities and rights can be provided to customers over a period of time.

I work in a customer service industry, and truly have realized and experienced on how important a customer is in this age of global competition and a highly dynamic business.

This bank is not professional at all like other banks in US, they never answers the calls, if you do wire transfer to them they gonna charge saying its not ACH transfer, who will know from what bank its ACH or not, even if they get the wire they will not credit it to your account unless you ask them, ever after calling and talking to Manager, she will say she received funds and credit to your account, you will not see it, if you call one more time, they gonna say supervisor is on lunch and when the supervisor is back he will credit your funds, we have to beg them for our own funds, very unprofessional staff and don't know what they are doing. they are still doing work like in olden days, will not suggest this and its waste of time and funds that they are holding even after they get it, will close the account with them and better with BOFA or wells fargo that they have international transfers.

SBI Chicago offers great interest rates, however their business acumen needs a huge improvement (at least by American standards). The primary issue I have is that they appear to be in the US solely for the Indian expat community, yet they allow anyone to open an account With that in mind, they are ill prepared for the US banking market, which expects prompt service, high tech features such as a mobile app and fluent English language proficiency from the bank's representatives. I spoke to one of their representatives over the phone when inquiring about one of their accounts. She was polite, but had a very thick accent which made it quite difficult to understand her. Plus she lacked any enthusiasm and seemed completely indifferent to whether she attained my business or not. I then contacted SBI via their website and their provided emails too, and have yet to receive a response Banks should be responding to inquires within 24hrs or less. It would worry me that my money would be with such a lackadaisical institution. I'm honestly surprised that they are still in business here in the US, their growth here must be near zero percent.

I agree with previous comments that this is another typical Indian Government office culture. Staff definitely need to go through trainings on Customer Service. Surprisingly, their CD rates are highest in US.

If you want a typical 1980's Indian bank experience then SBI Chicago is where you want to go. Its as if they are completely averse to technology. They still use fax as their primary mode of communication. If you ever forget your internet banking password thats the end of your happiness, you have to walk down to the bank (or fax) a form and they will send you a new password in the post, thats right, in the post, and its a certified mail, so you need to collect in person. The most horrible customer service ever. I don't know how they even manage to be in business.
