Was looking forward to nice snorkeling trip with my 13 year old daughter. We were told it was 1 to 2 ft seas at the reef that day and it would be a great time not to worry . What a mistake we got to the sombrero reef and the seas were 3 to 5 or 6 ft waves. I knew it was bad because we were the only boat there .we went out from 1:00 to 4:00 with Capt . Terry and Kim . The visability was maybe 5 to 10 ft in some spots .we shouldn’t have been out there ..besides almost getting sea sick there’s no way that was safe being in the water. My daughter and I where very disappointed . We almost drowned a few times it was so rough “Drank a lot of sea water” I don’t think it was a good choice for starfish snorkeling to take use out that day just to make a few bucks . No one on that trip was happy and no refunds by the way do your homework and check wave heights at the reef . Very disappointed. I felt I was lied to so we wouldn’t cancel our trip not good business never again .
Had to make last minute change for weather. Staff was on top of it and accomadating for our time. Captain and mate were friendly and very knowledgable of the area. Recommend for sure! Reef was beautiful. Saw sharks, barracuda and tons of fish. 2 turtles too!
This was our first time snorkeling with this company and we were not disappointed! The captain and first mate were both super fun and friendly! I was skeptical at first after the lady on the phone the day prior being rude when I called to confirm our trip that I booked online, but was relieved once we got to the boat and met the crew. On our boat ride out to Sombrero Reef, it was a little rougher than previous snorkeling trips we have gone on, but once we made it to the reef and got in the water, the water didn't seem too rough at all. Sombrero Reef offered the chance to see tons of fish, some of which we hadn't got to see at other snorkeling locations. The Reef at Sombrero is also great, lots of corals and variety, along with large holes and cliffs where you can find some bigger fish such a grouper and even a giant blowfish! I highly recommend this crew for a snorkeling trip to Sombrero Reef, you will not be disappointed!
Captain Scott and his first mate Angie were very friendly, helpful, and most importantly, safe. They go through safety procedures before departing, upon arriving at the snorkeling area, leaving the snorkeling area, and arriving back at the dock. The area you are taken to is filled with fish to the point where you're swimming with them in areas. Definitely worth the money.
Went out for a first time snorkeling today. Had an awesome time! The captain and deckhand Angie were wonderful!
Captain Scott and his first mate were awesome! I definitely suggest anyone to use them for there next snorkeling adventure. It was my sons first time and he loved it. That was not all I was impressed with. I lost the keys to my car and the whole company helped us look for them as well as helped us find someone to help us out. We did not find them but it was the effort that counted. They were beyond helpful. That is not what you find at most business's in this day and age. I will be back to take the rest of my family and friends!!!
Scott and Anthony were great guides. Ended up spending $5 more for the trip today than with any other company totally worth it! It was much more personal an intimate than we would've of with anyanother company, they were all out at the dive site with their overflowing boats. Perfect size boat and just right amount of passengers on our trip. Money well spent, 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a great experience! Couldn't tip these gentlemen enough! A+++++ Experience!
Loved our experience with Starfish Snorkeling on June 1st, 2016 (first day of hurricane season). Gorgeous day. Very polite crew. Being ex-Navy, I was very impressed with the level of professionalism and safety the crew and captain demonstrated. The reef was gorgeous. The undersea life was beautiful. My wife, two sons and I really enjoyed our visit and plan to return on our next vacation to Marathon Key.
