Well our trip to Islamorada started off great and then went quickly down hill. Trailer problems the whole way down starting in the middle of Alligator Alley and ended up limping in to Sea Bird on 3 wheels. The friendly and courteous staff and customers of this Marina worked with me to get my boat in the water. I did not experience the same service that others have. I just used the ramp for getting my boat in the water. I did not store my boat, trailer, or any vehicles at this location over night.
Details: Since our trailer was on 3 wheels the ride height of the trailer was too low to clear the grade of the ramp. With the help of many we were able to jack the boat off the hitch, flip the ball and successfully get the boat unloaded in to the water damage free. This marina may not be the fanciest but if you are looking for some nice Floridians to help get your boat wet this is a very convenient and nice location.
Boat is a 30 foot concept.
Wonderful family operated business. Well priced boat rental. Top notch service and equipment.
Owner is rude. A sign that reads
"Launch at your own risk" next to boat ramp.
So I asked the simple question however a big deal to the owner.. Rude with no real answer.
Dont waste your time with this guy so many other boat ramps to deal with a hot head owner.
Nice friendly people, we always rent our boat and get our bait and geat at this mom and pop run marina/boat/bait shop. Very informative and easy to work with, why we come back to them every year, see you in December.
I've been keeping my boat in long term storage with Sea Bird for almost 2 years. I now live in Key West but would rather drive the hour to use my boat because I am that happy with the service and pricing of Sea Bird. Lynn and her mother have great local knowledge and are quick to share it. I will continue to keep my boat stored at Sea Bird and help support a family owned/operated business.
For the negative reviewers; please step off your high horse and drop the sense of entitlement. Just because you are on vacation, it does not give you the right to do whatever you want. Use some common sense, obey the rules of the marina and be mindful of others. I can't get over the negative reviews from the bunch that were busted for lobstering/diving in the marina during mini-season. You broke the law, be happy all that happened was being asked to leave.
We enjoyed our stay in the little house on the water at The Sea Bird Marina and look forward to visiting again. The house was clean and the kitchen was well provisioned for cooking and eating. Sylvia answered all of our questions before we arrived and made us feel welcome during our stay. I enjoyed her local knowledge, dry sense of humor and her hospitality.
The house at The Sea Bird Marina is a vacation place for people who do not need or expect corporate hotel or resort amenities - the home itself is an older Florida home with mid-century cool terrazzo floors, updated wall units for air conditioning and Wifi. The decor is dated but all appliances are in good working order and we lived in the home comfortably for a week.
This home-away-from-home has everything you need to enjoy a quiet, private getaway.
Plan ahead for groceries because Long Key does not have a grocery store and the nearest one is more then 12 miles in either direction. Relative to most of The Florida Keys, it is as if time stood still here. There is no hustle and bustle: it is enjoyably quiet. So bring your groceries and your boat or rent a boat - live bait, chum, sunscreen and fuel are available at The Sea Bird Marina and when you do need the basics like milk, coffee, bread and eggs you can get them locally.
If you like sunsets on the water, feeding tarpon and watching marine life in the marina, enjoy boats and fishing and don't need hopping nightlife, fancy furnishings or room service, you'll find your slice of paradise right here.
Medium level marina with basic amenities. Moderately priced. Set up for smaller boats. Some common areas available with a pool and neighborhood park with swing sets.
Great place to do business with. We rented a boat from them for 4 days the boat worked great. Lynn and her mom had all kinds of great local info. Will be going back this summer!!
The owners seem to be absolutely miserable people. They are rude and snarky. My wife and I kept a 27ft boat here for about 3 months. We had a terrible experience with the owners. In addition to being hateful, they absolutely will not let you power your boat onto the trailer at all. My boat is pretty heavy and I like to store it with a full tank of fuel. I broke 2 heavy duty winch posts trying to winch the boat all the way to the stop on the trailer. The first was the original that came on the Continental trailer. My wife and I have been launching and recovering boats at ramps from Virginia to Florida for the last 26 years and this is the worst. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere with your boat.
