Very nice park. Well maintained and staffed. The beaches are great. It misses that fifth star simply because there's not a "gotcha" attraction, though their efforts to promote dark skies and stargazing are getting pretty darn close.

My kids first experience with a beach and they enjoyed it. My only experience with the ocean had been from Myrtle Beach in South Carolina- the beach/water seemed very seaweed-y which I don't remember from MB and didn't have much in the way of seashells to collect or wildlife (like crabs) to see- except for the gulls and they are pests! Keep your food guarded! Not terribly crowded which was nice and there was a pretty well maintained bathhouse nearby.

Lots and lots of beach and some nice trails. Fishing looked great (pompano were running). Both primitive and RV spots. Well-managed, clean, easy and a quiet spot for long walks and afternoon napping.

I almost hate to post this because I want to hoard the secret, but this place is just magical. Stayed a night in March at the Gap Point primitive campground. Woke up hearing nothing but 15 different kinds of birds and the wind in the pines. Gulf side beaches might be the best in FL. Certainly among the most pristine.

Beautiful. Clean. Love being so close to the ocean. Can run on the beach. Go shelling. Walk trails. Kids have a small playground in campground area. Rangers are very helpful.

We bring our family here every October for our end of the summer camping trip. It’s hands down our favorite place to camp! The beauty of the state park is breathtaking. The natural dunes are some of the best I’ve ever seen. I love St George Island, and especially the state park!

One of the best Florida State Parks. A hidden gem. I have been three times over 20 years and each time is excellent. What makes this place special is that it isn't overbuilt and is very minimaljust the natural setting like it should be.

There is nothing like a good beach getaway, and what better place to get away to than St. George Island. Once you get there you feel like a local, and the community is very welcoming and amenable. For parties, holiday celebrations, or maybe a week on the beach with the family, St. George Island has everything you need to make it a memorable time.

Short visit to walk beach and see whats there for a future visit. Few people there this time of year. Nice campground but no sewer hookups. Beach was covered with jellyfish. Found some nice sea shells. Mostly vacation rentals, a couple of pizza or fish restaurants.

Great place to stay and relax. You must pay some dollars to access, but you will satisfied with nicest beaches, clean, crystal clear water, not busy and very peaceful area. You will there find several parking places with access in to beach, covered open picnic buildings with restrooms and shovers, vending machines and more. Other activity - fishing, boating, camping, search and find shells and beach treasures, snorkeling, swimming, trail walking to the duns, wildlife photography and much more. The Park have turtles and turtle nests protection, birds nesting protection! Some areas are restricted to step and/or walk there.

The rangers were very nice and informative. The park was very clean and wild. The marine life was abundant especially the jelly fish. We even saw dolphins right outside the last sand bar.

We walked the trails witch are real trails not for city park people. Great views some you can only see here. We also hit beach to swim and eat under pavilion. My boys loved and so did we. 6 bucks I think per car load

We have 2 more days left on our vacation but absolutely love this place. We've seen crabs, dolphins, and sea turtle tracks. The camp grounds are nice but make sure to have mosquito spray. Perfect place for a family get away.

Beautiful park, they even have firewood at the campsite!
But the 5 star is for Catherine, the guide at the check in center. She was amazing, helping us out and really going out of her way to make sure we were able to stay-keep in mind it was a last minute decision for us to stay here this time, and she made it happen.

So many great memories have been made here. It's a tranquil, natural white sand beach with easy access to bathrooms, helpful rangers and covered pavilions for picnic lunchs or just getting out of the sun. The town on the island is charming, too. Check out the pizza shop! It's a bit of a wait, but it adds to your experience. Or if you're not that hungry, there's an ice cream shop. If you want some history, there's a lighthouse you can tour as well, and the town has a bike trail and bikes you can rent. This is a great quiet vacation spot.

A BEAUTIFUL and serene piece of Florida's"Forgotten Coast." SGI State Park is ALWAYS CLEAN, well maintained for handicapped or disabled persons, and the staff is kind, knowledgeable and READY to help!! One of our favorite places to meet new friends from ALL OVER the WORLD!!

We camped here. The park staff were incredibly nice and informative. The bathroom facilities were very clean and the park has made significant effort to be wheelchair accessible. We also walked the trails. It's a beautiful park. My only complaint is that the camp sites are VERY close to each other, so if you have loud camp goers, it'll keep you up. And there's little to no privacy. Also, we camped last December and the wind whips through the island (not a fault of the park but just something to consider if you're camping later in the year!).

At the entrance there is a manned guard shack where everybody has to pay to get in. They do not allow over-crowding. We camped and the two bathroom facilities were very roomy and nice for a small campground. You can easily walk from your campsite to one of many beach access areas. On the bay side they offer kayak rental. We rode our own bicycles around the whole island. There are no separate bike lanes or shoulders along the 4 miles of road inside of the park, but traffic was very low. Outside the park has a separate bike lane several feet from the road. There were a few places to rent bikes too. We had ridden bikes to the beach and stayed until after dark. When it was time to ride back, the lack of any street lights at all made it impossible to see even the side of the road. Bring a light if going to the beach after dark. I could have done without the "Beware of alligators" sign at the ponds right inside of the campground. Did not see any though.
