Great day at graduation, get there early.
Didn't expected it to be this big and nice. Turns out it's quite a huge arena and with proper facilities.
I've been going to Carver Hawkeye Arena since I was a young kid. I've attended men's and women's basketball games, volleyball games, wrestling meets, crop walks when the weather was nasty outside and graduations. I think my 1st experience was at a women's basketball game with my Girl Scout troop. Each year there was a game that girl scout troops were invited to attend and our troop went every year. One year our troop helped with the flag presentation during the national anthem for an event. I love how involved with the community the arena is, it's not just for games!
Seating isn't that comfortable or spacious. Parking is all lots, never enough parking for a full stadium, and extremely hard to leave at the end of events. The arena is underground, so your phone won't work much at all. I've been to multiple games and graduations, all of which end up being relatively stressful if you drive yourself.
Carver Hawkeye arena is an amazing place to watch any event. They have recently updated scoreboards, and an entire lot devoted to handicap parking. Great seats anywhere and tv and jumbo screens everywhere. Large restrooms and great place. The new Carver Athletics offices are state of the art and amazing. Great ushers and staff always. Police presence is everywhere making it a very safe environment! And the best part are all the Hawkeyes! Players, coaches, and fans! Go Hawks!
Went to a practice for wrestling and watched some basketball practice, pretty good.
Fun college athletics arena. Lots of steps.
Great place to watching basketball or volleyball games. Also graduación ceremonies take place there. I go to watch some basketball games because my son is in Pep band. A few weeks ago we watched both teams and during the first game there was a wrong alarm and everybody had to evacuate which is hard to go all the way up the stairs, don't want to imagine the chaos of a real emergency when it's crowded.
Go Hawks!!! CHA updates have made going to games even more enjoyable!
Carver is great, really awesome what they did 2016 with new displays, very high quality.
All parking is not far and plenty of restrooms and concessions.
Parking abundant off of Hawkins Also the busiest road leading to Carver so allow time. Finkbine Commuter always room and not a far walk. North Kinnick lot open as well. $5 parking not bad.
I've been to 8 home games the last two years and never an issue, traffic can be bad, but never an issue with Carver.

It's been several years since I had been here before New Year's Eve 2016. We went for an Iowa women's basketball game (vs. Nebraska) since we had procured free tickets through our credit union. Parking was free, and seemingly plentiful (probably because of the timing and who was playing). I wish you could bring in your own (even empty) water bottle because I refuse to be ripped off by paying $4 for a bottle of water. We ended up getting a small cup to fill at the drinking fountain. We had great seats for the game, but I've been to other games that the crowd was more pumped up. Lots of black & gold everywhere, of course, but lots of concrete as well. Bathrooms were clean enough, but can there ever be enough bathrooms at venues such as this? Nope! There was a long line after the game.
Great place to watch a wrestling match. The arena is much bigger than it looks from the outside. Wonderful fans.
Great venue. Not a bad seat in the house
Plenty of bathrooms for an arena. Hardly ever a line except for the famous ice cream!
An Iowa City Landmark & place everyone should visit when they're in the area.
They recently made some additional changes/upgrades & they're great.
New electronic scoreboard, new marquee hanging over center court with LARGE digital screens for easier viewing.
It really brightens up everything as well.
Other than the ice cream lines being 50 people long at all times, I love this place!
Nice, clean venue for watching college sports. Just be sure you know where to park before you make the trip.
