We had a wonderful time on our ride. The guide was hilarious and taught us about all of the old west stories. We even got to see where the stage coach comes in. I loved that all of their horses looked very well care for which is the most important thing to me. I learned later that Lee the owner takes in horses and rehabs them. Totally sold me on this place. If you are looking for a place to ride they are the only ones that can take you into the park. There is another stable on the way there that tries to take their rides as I accidentally stopped there. I could not believe it.. in fact I bet they are the ones that wrote a negative review. In any case I figured it out with no help from Siri. Once the pavement ends you must keep going on down the dirt road . Thanks again for the great ride Spur Cross!!! I will definitely be back:-)
We had a wonderful time! And, I'm booking a ride this week for another ride!
Have you ever walked up to a place you haven't been before and you start getting bad vibes, and you later learned your vibes were on to something? Welcome to Spur Cross. My wife and I arrived (for our reservation!!!) and we see no one around and out of the corner of my eye I see what looks to be maybe a ranch hand standing next to a horse. So I expected to be welcomed with a "Can I help you?" or "Good Morning"; but oh no; the employee starts insulting the clothing that I'm wearing (it was our anniversary so I was wearing Old West clothes to get some nice pictures). After 5 minutes of going through that nonsense, he asks me what we are there for. Seriously? Oh, we just drove an hour to be insulted and pull into some ranch just for the heck of it.
He then tells me 3 wranglers are a no call/no show and that we just as soon head back whence we came. Then a family that came in after us (from Nebraska) were told the wonderful news as well. The excuse I was given is that its near the end of the season and the guides have probably moved on. Sorry, Unacceptable! If this is the case, there are a number of ways to prevent people that have reservations driving to your ranch for a cancelled reservation. In addition, looking at the employee that did show up for work, I thought how the other 3 must have been pulled from the bottom of the barrel.
We then head into town and start seeing flyers for this stable. In talking with shop owners and patrons I asked the question, "Why post flyers all around town when you don't have anyone to give a tour anyways?" I tried to call the owners twice and was lied to the first time on when they would be available. This place is in serious need of a business manager and their employee needs classes in customer service (which does exist by the way).
Loved the experience. We had an amazing half day ride with a very knowledgeable guide, Yellowsnake. The horses were well behaved and the scenery was fantastic.
We both had a very fun time, the scenery was beautiful and the horses were all very pleasant to ride. Along with knowledgeable guides make for a perfect sunset ride.
Great experience. Beautiful scenery for a sunset ride, or even a day ride as you're surrounded by tall saguaros, wildlife, and greenery. Friendly staff as well. All animals (including horses, donkeys, mules, goats) are obviously taken care of. With well over 10 years of equine experience myself I was impressed by the setup and how they ran everything. Highly recommend! Thanks for a great time.
My wife and I, along with our 13 and 14yo, went on the 1hr sunset ride. It was awesome! Great people and great horses! Thank you so much Spur Cross Stables! Next time in the valley we will come back for a 2hr or more ride to experience more of the beauty of you and your ranch!!
Went on the 1.5hr ride with 7,9,& 3 -16 year olds and had a great time. Beautiful desert scenery and healthy happy horses and mules. Friendly staff.
Took our two grandsons 8 and 12 for their first ride. They had a great time.
Their guide, Preston and the owner Lee explained everything to them before the sunset ride. I stayed behind and chatted with Lee about his ranch and AZ in general. Such a nice man. My husband and I will be going back to this stable for a ride of our own. Beautiful scenery, nice horses and a great business. I would recommend Spur Cross without hesitation.
Today I had so much fun. It's my first time!!!My horse name is Woffer, (sorry if I can't spell ur horse name) but he was so nice and good listener. The Guy who guide us was so funny, friendly and his kind of strict in good way 😄. Thank you so much to those family I was with on rides today. They're good people! They'd teach me some tricks what I need to do when I ride. 😘
There's a reason why I'm giving this place 5 STARS. Customer service is out of this world. Fun, friendly staff. Beautiful, gentle horses. Couldn't ask for a better environment where you can enjoy the beauty of the desert and clop along and get a history lesson as well. Boot was the perfect guide. Knowledgeable, made us both feel well at ease. I highly recommend everyone booking a reservation with this place. I have been to 3 other trail ride locations here in Phoenix area and this surpasses them all by a mile. Don't forget to give your horse a carrot. Which are provided by the ranch by the way. I may bring some of my own the next time I head out there.
I had an amazing experience with this stable!! I took my daughter there for her first horseback riding experience. They absolutely made it a very memorable experience for the both of us. Debbie our guide was fun and kept us smiling. I will be coming back again and highly recommend this stable for a horse back riding experience you won't forget!!
