I have celiac disease, so I'm always on the hunt for places with good gluten-free options. This one has them, and they do try to avoid contamination if you explain the severity of your disease. Also, the Melon Ball doesn't seem very strong, but I don't even remember finishing mine (though I was told that I did) or much of the evening afterwards.
Loved the food and comes in good portions. The big pieces of chicken, not cut into smaller bite sizes, is my only complaint. Definitely coming back!
Second time here. A family friendly environment, with a warm cozy feeling. Tables are close together creating an almost communal eating setting. Known for the dumping and hand made egg noodles, personally I have had better but I would return for another meal.
Nice staff. Large menu. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. We took home and had enough for lunch the next day.
The good reviews enticed me to give this place a try. 1st time in for a late Saturday lunch. Very sorry to say, the food and price (for lunch) was a disappointment 🙁 Maybe it depends on what you order???
The tangy, crispy eggplant was incredibly strange. Sauce on it was good, but it came out in very large pieces that looked like large pieces of fried chicken. A lot of breading, couldn't really taste the eggplant buried inside and not cooked! The white rice was old, not fresh. The prawns with veggies was ok, not much flavor or sauce, alot of heat, which is good, but no flavor, veggies were bland, mostly water chestnuts and bell peppers. Tasted like they threw the prawns into an already made veggie dish (not like a freshly stir-fried together)!
Reason for 3 Stars: The host was very friendly and my server, JEFF was GREAT!!
Jeff - You really made my experience at Snappy Dragon good. Your very kind & gracious way of handling a not so great situation and giving your best to ensure excellent guest service is worth noting! I hope the owner/manager recognizes you and appreciates having you on staff!
Thank you again for doing an outstanding job! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you get the seafood soup, is suggest getting something like the salt and pepper squid to balance out the two.
We went to Snappy Dragon on the Sunday before Labor Day, but oddly enough it wasn't too crowded. The food was delicious as always. Be careful with the Pikachu Punch, though. They can really pack a wallop!
Ok, but not impressive food. My friend loves that place and even got take out! Service was very good. No parking in back during day on weekdays.
The first time I went to Snappy Dragon was within a month after their opening (over 20 years ago). The quality and tastiness of the food has remained consistent over the years.
Some of their specialties include jiao-zi (dumplings) and hand made noodles. One of my friends called Snappy "the land of doughy goodness." If you order a noodle dish you must get the hand made noodles!
The non-doughy dishes are delicious too. My two favorites are Mongolian Beef and Dry Sauteed String Beans in Black Bean Sauce.
Bonus: if you fall in love with some of their sauces you can by a jar/bottle of it to take home.
The portions are definitely huge, but the quality is not too good. The food, especially the veg rolls were raw and very lightly fried. Probably rushed through the fryer. They were unpalatable and we ended up not eating more than a couple of bites of them. The cauliflower and chicken were not cut into decent sized pieces. I could get 5-6 bites from each piece, which is a lot.
I love many of their dishes. However, the dishes I enjoy are not prepared with consistency. Meaning the kung pao chicken I get one day may not taste the same as the one I order on another day.
Staple for Chinese food in north Seattle. Great sauces, which really make it. Sometimes the quality of meat isn't super high, but there's not too much to complain about.
Drove all the way from federal way to try this place for the first time (based off of reviews and coworker suggestion). Only thing that was decent was the Hot & Sour soup. If you have every had good Chinese food before, don't believe the 4/5 star reviewers. These are people that live in the area and go here out of convenience. Food is extremely bland, noodles are overcooked and the handmade dumplings were too thick with very little stuffing (listed as a favorite item). Save your money and make the extra trip into Chinatown for flavor!
Very underrated and a hidden gem. Can be extremely busy but take out is a perfect solution. Portions are very large, especially if you dine in. Nice staff and quick service at the table.
My favorite Chinese food in the city. Family run with amazing szechuan dishes and house made noodles. The pot stickers are top shelf. The quality is always consistent and very fresh.
I love the szechuan beef, ants on a branch, and tea smoked duck, but so many things to eat it's always hard for me to decide.
I always look forward to a visit here!
