In the amount of time it has taken for me to be waited on I have watched several documentaries on the signing of the deceleration of independence, I've gone from the young age of 24 to 97 and back to 24 again. Needless to say by the time they get around to seeing you, you'll have already healed on your own. 5 hours and waiting

Stayed at Silver Cross Hospital for 2 nights. Every staff member my family and I came into contact was kind and attentive: doctors, nurses, CNAs, nutritionists, support dogs and their owners, and cleaning staff. The food was good for being in a hospital and the private rooms made it easy for a family member to stay overnight. All of this was contributed to my recovery, great hospital!

Truly awful and I don't know how a place like this manages to function. Went to the ER at 4am on a Thursday morning- seems like a pretty good time to go, right? Sat in the waiting room for two and a half HOURS before I walked out and went to an urgent care instead. Lots of patients left the ER but they never called anyone back. No sense of urgency. No one said a word to me during those two and a half hours. Really really bad. Avoid if at all possible.

We have always come here instead of Palos, South Suburban or other hospitals. Brand new, private suits. Our family has been her over 12+ times, never a bad experience.

I have no idea why anyone would not like it here.

If you love your family or friends do not bring them to Silver Cross Hospital. My elderly mother was brought here after complaining of difficulty breathing. We were initially informed by staff that my mother had a slight case of pneumonia and she was admitted. Doctors put her on an IV antibiotic. Further testing and cultures ruled out pneumonia and infection. With her age, my mother has some health issues and takes prescription medication and has for some years. However, she was always alert and mobile. After 4 days of being in Silver Cross, due to their treatment, my mother is now bedridden, unable to talk and can barely open her eyes. Now that we were told today that she does not have pneumonia, we had to tell the nurses to stop doping her up because we want to get her out of here. We do not know why it took 4 days to learn she does not have pneumonia but now that we do we're desperate to get her out of here walking, not rolling. Doctors here don't know what they're doing. Stay away!

My daughter was taken directly from the doctors office via ambulance with sob, nausea, chest pain and vertigo. Yes she was triaged, blood work done and returned in a wheel chair and we sat in waiting room for 5 1/2 hours. When I voiced my concern and asked if at least she could n lay down in a room. I was told 50 people where ahead of her and 7 had the same symptoms. What has happened to health care? No compassion. I saw other people in wheelchairs who truly looked sick. No one came b up to them for assistance. I experienced the, same treatment a few months ago, basically they don't care. I even wrote a letter of complain which was never acknowledged. She was admitted. Stay away the nurses have no compassion, the attitude they convey, is that you can leave.

You have the right and I preach this as a Muslim, to refuse medication. Listen to your body. Save as many lives as possible and keep that mortality rate low. if you want a higher chance of dying and lack of care/inadequate amount of medication such as blood thinners, silver cross fits the bills. I heard a story about a girl with a head injury who continued to express that she has pain in that area, regardless, they still discharged her home. She died two days later. That gravestone could've been prevented. Treat others and medicate others how you'd like to be treated and medicated. Just go to Rush or Christ or any of the downtown hospitals. They don't dismiss critical issues and they don't sleep on ya. They're happy and confident of themselves, their establishments and professionalism.

If I could give no stars I would!!!!! The wait in their ER is ridiculous! It hasn't changed since there move from down the road in the old building! It was a waist of money to rehab that whole hospital just to move it down the street. Service in the ER is ridiculous! When I say this please take heed! We sat for almost 8 hours before leaving! U could easily die there and no one I mean no one would notice! Like I said if I could of given no stars I would have. But u have to at least leave one star just to write a review

I figure it's time to add my voice. I have seen an abundance of negative reviews on this site, but that has not been my experience. I had only one experience with emergency care a while ago, and it was handled very professionally and promptly. I ended up staying overnight and being given a battery of tests. All personnel involved were competent and friendly. I greatly appreciated the private room. That was not my experience years ago at another area hospital when I had a very bothersome roommate. Since my overnight visit, I've had several occasions to return for various out patient tests. The most recent was yesterday. Monica checked me in and Sherry did my EKG. Both were very pleasant to work with and did their jobs extremely well.

My father stayed on the therapy floor; transported from Loyola. His "case worker," not a Social Worker, called my mother the day my father arrived asking questions, "How is your father getting home? Who will take take care of him? He needs complete care." Mind you, my father was T-boned by a car. His entire right side, shattered! Complete elbow replacement, complete hip replacement. Long story short, my mother and father were harassed from day one by the caseworkers and I have lost all respect for Silver Cross. Hiring caseworkers, not Social Workers. The nursing staff and CNA's care. They truly are for patient's care.

It doesn't matter what you come to the ER for, unless you're bleeding out, it's going to be at least an 8 hour wait. If you're having chest pains, do not think that you will be seen any faster. I suggest going to another hospital, and not St Joes. It's the same as here. And make sure you double check the medication that is prescribed for your babies before you give it to them, or suffer the consequences and lose your beautiful baby.

We have our love one here in the ER since 3:45pm. 7 hours and 15 minutes later we are still sitting in the emergency room waiting area. Totally poor service. Remind you she's 81 years of age, with a few element challenges including cancer. Not one nurse check to inquire anything unless we ask for it after triage was done. I'm sure upper management does not allow this level of customer service to exist. If so, shame on you.

While here for a routine doctor's appointment, my daughter fell and hit her head and before I could say anything, here were so many people there to help us, making sure Dianna was okay. it was a real experience and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way because she was taken care of so quickly and properly that we were able to avoid another seizure. Thank God!! We continue to go to this location because the staff is courteous and helpful at every step of the way.
