Worst hospital ever been to! They're always running behind! My moms surgery was supposed to start at 11:30 and they took her to holding at 12! We've already been here since before 10! A simple procedure and we waited three hours just to take her into the operating room! These doctors need to stop over booking themselves and giving the quality care these patients deserve!

My dad had to go to this hospital due to emergent situation. He usually goes to silver cross but if he didn't go to st. joes he probably would not be with us today. The nurses are nice, the aides are nice, the hospital as a whole could be cleaner and more updated. The walls sometimes make you feel as if you are in a very old hospital.

The Ruby Tuesday of hospitals. The quality that never seems to be. The most recent visit consisted of 11 hrs until my 2 yr old was administered as a patient. 7 hrs.in the ER waiting room and at least 4 hrs in a temp room. The most notable mention is there is a Dr. Behind the curtain.

Went back after 20 years hoping it was better and it's even worse. While waiting in the ER with my 5 year old who was bleeding from the head after a fall, an off duty JPD officer came in with her pre-teen child who had a much more minor injury than my daughter and they called her first. I come from a family of a retired policeman and I understand the relationship between hospital staff and police officers, however it should NOT apply in the ER where you take patients by level of urgency. My daughter was in a lot of pain and bleeding significantly. I was appalled and told my nurse so. She couldn't have cared less and acted like they were doing us a favor by helping my daughter. The attending physician did such a poor job on the staples, they hurt my daughter more coming out than going in. Her Pediatrician said one staple in particular was so poorly done it took him and his nurse just to get it out. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a supposed medical care provider and I refuse to pay for such ridiculous service. You have what my insurance paid and that's all your gettingever. I, nor anyone in my care, will ever return to this hospital.

My doctor admitted me in the hospital straight after a visit with him. I'd received the best of care. All the staff was amazingly hospitable, professional, warm, caring, knowledgeable and friendly. My stay at St. Joseph Hospital was very comforting.

I was admitted to St. Joes and spent a week there in 2W Room 2006. While there I was pleased with the entire nursing staff and CNA's. So friendly and punctual when I hit the nurse call button. Very respectful to ones needs and rest. Did not have a bad night's sleep while there. Because of unfortunate health reasons, I will be spending more time at St Joes. I am sure the service will be again Grade A.

My son suffered a spinal cord injury on August 11th. I live out of state and did not arrive until the next day. I met with the surgeon and he went over all the CT and MRI images with me. He explained the surgeries he was going to do. The ICU nurses are absolutely the best. My son's needs were immediately met. My son and his wife were to be married on Sept 1. Under the circumstances they were married in the hospital. His ICU nurses made them a wooden plaque with their last name. They also gave them some wine glasses and a bottle of sparkling grape juice. Now he is out of the ICU awaiting transport to a rehab facility. The nurses on the step down floor are also super. The nurses and doctors are all very human. If I could suggest any improvement it is to make food available 24-7. The Jazzman cafe should be open all weekend, at least until midnight. If you want to leave the hospital to get food you can not re enter the parking garage after 8pm.

Not at all impressed with the staff at this St. Joe's. My son was brought into the emergency room, unconscious. When I got there, the few nursing staff members I saw were lacking personality and compassion. I had been there for an hour and decided to step to the nursing station to find out what was going on, as no one had been in to see us. A nurse was on the other side of the door coming in. I asked her a question about what they had done for him since he had been brought in and was told, "I don't know, I wasn't the nurse when he came in. Someone else was, so they would know. I don't!" and she left the room! It was 10:15 am, isn't shift change at 7 am? How could she not know? or at least take a minute to find out?! Any question I asked her she acted as though I hadn't said anything and once was walking back out the door without any response, when I said, "excuse me", she then turned around and said, "I heard you", stammered something about asking her and left the room! Who was her? and why couldn't she just say, "I'll check and get back to you?" instead of ignoring us? I've worked in two Chicago area hospitals and have NEVER experienced any thing like that! Turns out, we don't even know who she was, a women who came in half an hour later a women came in with discharge papers. I asked if she was from admitting and she simply said she was my sons nurse, no name was offered. She did answer questions and was polite but the discharge information she offered was very vague and I had to offer my son specific details so he would know what to expect. She confirmed what I said, but continued to offer only vague details. Not impressed.
However, there was a very nice young man in a security uniform at the information desk who was polite, helpful and courteous. Kudo's to him!response / report this review -

My grandma was in Morris hospital first, then a rehab place then had to go back to the hospital. Thank god it was st Joe's! The staff & doctors are amazing. The rooms are great! I am finally happy she got the care she needed & she's doing better!

If you can possibly make it to another hospital such as Silver Cross or Edwards, do yourself a favor and skip St. Joes. They are so severely overcrowded and the staff is very overworked and trust me it comes through in their attitudes. After sitting for 6 hours waiting on xrays, never making it to an actual bed or my own triage room, Doctor tells me he thinks I have an tissue infection in my foot and he prefers I spend the night for iv antibiotics, but he can also write me an rx and send me home if i so chose. I reluctantly agree to stay, since he's the doctor and infections are scary. What he doesn't mention is that there are no rooms available so I have to be shuffled back to the 1st waiting room, now overflowing with people and screaming kids. The male nurse just drops me back there before I even know what's going on. When I try to talk to him he just walks away. Then when I get upset, Noone there has even an ounce of compassion to offer to help me but the valet guy. I finally get the security guy to get the nurse back so I can tell him since there's no rooms il take the rx, he tells me "that's not gonna happen" as rudely as possible . I'm now crying trying to tell him that the doctor said I had a choice, and at the time, I had no idea that I'd be sitting out here indefinitely until a room opened up. Again he just walks away. When I finally get a discharge paper. I actually apologize to him for getting upset and instead of accepting, he scolds me for crying. Absolutely Zero bedside manner! Maybe Noone ever taught him that hospitals scare people. If my foot doesn't fall off, il go somewhere else tomorrow and I highly recommend you do too if you have a choice.

I went to St. Joseph's in December after a complication from earlier surgery (also done there). I almost died that night, and everyone, EVERYONE, from the check-in desk to my surgeon, were the utmost professionals -- kind and exceptionally caring. I spent a total of 47 days in the hospital, and I got to know the entire nursing department in surgical recovery.
I had a number of emergency room visits connected with this emergency, and I did have to wait a couple of times, because there were other emergencies. Which happens in life.response / report this review -

Seemed like a typically ER experience. The staff was nice and polite, the wait was long but it always feels forever when you or someone you love is not well. Once we got a room the nurses and aids were willing to assist so I have no complaints with the staffing upstairs. It wouldn't be my first choice for ER but I would go back if I needed to be admitted.

I've been here for over 8 hours for an EMERGENCY ROOM visit and haven't seen a doctor. The staff is rude. You can't park your own car and the valet seems to be inconvenienced by doing his job. I've been watching people leave without being treated all day because they're tired of waiting. I'm not sure what the deal is, but this is the absolute worst emergency room experience that I have ever had.

Absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been to in my life. Nursing staff was horrible, Doctors seemed to not really care and it took 3 to 4 times askin for something to get done. If you have a choice to go somewhere else DO IT. DON'T GO THERE!!!
