Close to perfect this restaurant hosted 8 of our family members outside on their patio. The reason I rate this restaurant close to perfect was a combination of atmosphere, service, and food. The day was perfect at noon when we all sat down, we started off with Bloody Marys and jalapeno shooters which set the mood perfectly. Hamburgers to chef salads follow all to the delight of those you ordered them. I came away full, happy and sun-tanned. The bathrooms are clean!

This was possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. First our drink order was messed up, second we waited for OVER an hour for our food!! Not kidding or exaggerating but it was over an hour for our food. I ordered the Felit medium well as steak houses usually under cook food and I like it medium. Anyways, once the food finally came out l, it came out RARE like ultra rare. It was disgusting. My dining partner who even likes her food rare said she wouldn't touch it. Let's just say I'll never becoming here again.

This is good eating in San Marcos. Always great service and the food is always excellent. My family loves this place and if dinner is a special occasion the Saltgrass is always our first choice.

Service was great! I am giving it a four star because we order fried chicken strips and shrimp plate and the chicken & shrimp were a bit soggy and soft to touch. Not crispy at all. The taste was good but the texture was off. Also ordered the brisket burger, now that was delish! 😉

A nice Landry's property with good food and good service. The steaks are cooked to order, and the other menu offerings haven't disappointed. The real attraction here, however, is the deck overlooking a small dam on the San Marcos river.

My family eats here frequently. Its a restaurant my mother likes. Hallelujah! Good attentive service. Good is good for the price.

Big beautiful wall to wall windows give you nice river views.

Not the best. I have never had Saltgrass mess up a steak before. This one didtwice. Waiter was very nicebut definitely was not worth the cost.

This is now officially my favorite Saltgrass restaurant. Staff was friendly, view from outdoor seating was fabulous, and food was great. The maple topped frozen Crown & Coke was excellent and refreshing. Greek salad was delish. Brownie dessert was the bomb! 😃 👍 ❤

Country feel, location well known for it overlooks the river, used to be Peppers awhile back.
Staff excellent helps menu suggestions and real friendly folks.

A nice and relaxing steakhouse to come and eat on the river. The restaurant is built above the river and can be seen from a giant window view. The service is great and I highly recommend going here during the noon or evening to see the beautiful river.

The staff was friendly and our server Justin was friendly and kept checking on us. The food was excellent. I would go back again and tell friends and family to go.

I had the Salmon Oscar and really enjoyed it! In fact I ate every bite. The service was great and the manager Joe?? or John?? was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. Great location too!! The best in San Marcos.

The worse service ever! The hostess was also performing DUAL duties as our wait person. Hardly ever saw her. I got up from the table and spoke to Manager Mike and he was GLAD I informed him. Not the fault of the hostess/waitpersonit was the Manager! Very poor planning on his part especially when there were 3 to 4 waitpeople standing up against the wall. No bread offered. Dirty knife. Mediocre shrimp with the "light breading" falling off. Forgot the tarter sauce. I would suggest to Manager Mike to visit the Saltgrass restaurant in McKinney Texasthey have their act together and the FOOD IS DELICIOUS IN MCKINNEY TEXAS. It will be a very long time before I visit the San Marcos Saltgrass again if EVER!!! In addition, my guest was celebrating her birthday and it was very disappointingoh free cakebut everyone gets that on their birthday at restaurants. NO OTHER COMPENSATION FOR THE INADEQUATE SERVICE WAS OFFERED. Date was Friday, May 5, 2017.

Awful service, atrocious wait between ordering and getting our food, the orders were not fulfilled correctly, steaks were all very rare dispute the medium cook requested, and while the manager was apologetic he only comped one of the 4 bills at our table. My extended family was in town for Texas State Graduation today. I've always had a good experience at other Saltgrass locations, so we made a reservation for dinner prior to the graduation. I understand graduation is a busy weekend and my expectations were adjusted down due to the crowd. We arrive a little early, and the hostess asked for a few minutes to ensure our table was ready. We waited 15 minutes and then asked the hostess how much longer - turned out our table had been ready since a minute after we checked in. We were sat and ordered drinks and apps quickly, but then wait 45 minutes for the appetizers (what?!?). Ended up
going to the bar to order drinks due to the slow service. Then waited 45 minutes for main dishes (seriously, you can't make up this stuff). Sides were wrong, and steaks were practically mooing. Manager came over apologetic and said he'd comp kids meals and appetizers. The two kids meal one of the four bills at the table were comped and appetizers were simply transferred to another bill at the table. I spoke with the manger again who apologized but did NOTHING about. $100 later my family of four had a poor experience, waited entirely too long, were served steaks we couldn't eat and burnt kids burgers. The graduate in our group barely had time to eat the edges of steak that were eatable was late to check in at graduation. Completely unacceptable.

The lunch time rib-eye with mash potatoes and brussel sprouts was amazing! Our server Madison, was great. The frozen margaritas were huge, yet not very potent!
