Solid choice for an airport meal, just a bit on the pricey side. They offer a low carb plate and a standard bbq lineup. I usually opt for the Turkey and it’s always great. Top it off with a Lone Star beer in a can!

Don't get me wrong. I love Salt Lick. The service here is despicable and I will never eat their food outside of their main location again. The food was poorly prepared and not warm. You charge SIX DOLLARS for A QUARTER cut off a sausage link. Your turkey was sitting in a vat more disgusting than a subway restaurant. The container was covered in filth and was given no bag or napkins to help carry around with in an airport. Thanks for the worst experience ever.

Superior BBQ, especially the three meats selection (your call, but I like the pulled pork and brisket). The cole slaw and beans are the way they should be - not overly sickeningly sweet, much more savory. I fly a lot and always try to get there 1 hr earlier just to get some. Can be pretty busy at times, but it seems to move relatively quickly.

Great lunch. Their signature sauce is very flavorful and the wait wasn't too bad. Would definitely do again.
Only complaint was that the sauce doesn't really highlight the quality and flavor of the meat. The sausage was delicious. Brisket was good, but could have been a little softer and a little more flavorful. But still, the softness and flavor of the brisket is 8 out of 10.
Turkey was soft, but benign flavor. Would have preferred to have dark meat.response / report this review -

If, like me, you are on a quick business trip to Austin and don't have time to seek out a BBQ restaurant while in town, the Salt Lick is a great place to experience some of Austin's famous BBQ. It's a great way to have a tasty meal during a time that would otherwise be spent waiting for a plane. The line can be long during peak times, but service is fast and efficient. From my experience, a two meat platter is a great deal, and the generous portions will leave you full and ready for a long flight. The meats and sauce are top notch, but don't overlook the terrific sides: beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and bread to soak it all up, included with the platter choices. Far better than the cast majority of airport food out there.

Texas is the place for BBQ. The open pit is amazing. Can't be missed when you are in the Austin area. The Brisquitte is a solid choice.

Came during a peak period but wait was minimal. Food just as good as the original Salt Lick. Try their Tacos at the Taco Cart across from Gate 10. Only place Salt Lick sells pulled chicken. Heavenly! Get them every trip, coming and going.

Good food. Tired but hard working crew served me drinks and awesome barbecue even though they were at the end of their shifts. Very nice people and delicious food. Texas at it's best.

I‘m from Austin and this is the best food in the airport. Any smart person knows it’s worth a small wait to get your food here. Also don’t order BBQ and then complain that it’s fatty. You can always ask for lean cuts when you order.

BBQ was terrible. Asked for a brisket combo and got my drink but no chips. The sandwich was nasty as well. Meat was fatty and greasy, I could barely eat it. I wanted some BBQ being in Texas and having a layover so I thought I would give this place a try. I would not recommend this place. The only good thing was the refills on the drinks. I sent my complaints to their corporate headquarters and did receive a response. The lady seemed concerned about the quality of my meal, but did not offer anything other than an apology and she hoped I tried their food again. Customer service seems a bit lacking for this place.

I've lived in Austin since 2002 and love the Salt Lick flagship location. That being said, the airport location is very overpriced given that they serve sub-prime cuts of meat and bland sides. I know airport food is more expensive anyway, but this is too much to let slide. Expect to pay ~$25 for the three meat combo with not a lot of edible meat and a drink.

I'm telling you, you haven't had a brisket egg breakfast taco until you've been here. I get 2 every time I come. Pour some of that hot sauce or salsa on it. Sometimes I don't even eat the tortilla I just use a fork and eat the moist brisket/eggs.

Austin airport location served very good barbecue for the location. Brisket was lean and had a subtle and unique smoke flavor. Links we're tender with a good snap to the skin. Sauce was good and did not overpower the meats. Sides were fresh and fairly good as well. From what I remember this food was better than the original location.

The food is good especially for a walk up food place. Be very careful with the containers. The people putting the food in the have very greasy hands and if you accidentally though your clothes, you now have a new stain to follow you through you travels. I wish they did a better job of making sure the packaging could contain all the foodly goodness.
This place beats so many sit down 'high' end restaurants, they just suck at giving it to you in a way to prevent it from getting on you.
