Nice hopsital. The new wing is very modern and looks great. Parking is a bit of an issue but it's nice that there are no parking decks to deal with.

Lovely and caring staff. Very nice and clean. Anti-infection procedures are incredible, better than any other hospital I have had to visit.

I am appalled by the experience I had in labor and delivery unit, I was out of state staying with my mother so she could help me with the kids, I was 9 months pregnant and was having pain, went to the ER, the doctor who treated me said "why did I come all the way here for her to solve my problems" she said I was careless because I had gestational diabetes and have not taken my medicine and I am just being a negligent mother! I didn't take my insulin due to there being no real studies on how the insulin affects the fetus but ate very healthy and kept up with my numbers during my pregnancy and for the doctor to call me an unfit mother while I'm having pain and blood pressure is high already is bad bedside manners and just very rude. My mother and I were very upset at the doctor and we left to seek treatment at another hospital who gave such an award winning customer service experience, I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at the other hospital and they took great care of me and respected me. Saint Barnabas is where I was born and they have some bad apples working there who are hurting the people and the hospital by their ATTITUDES. You do not belittle or talk down on your patience. I advise anyone to go else where. Thanks for giving me grief instead of trying to treat me.

I’ve always had good service with this hospital until now.. sat in fast track for 4 hours in pain and told the nurse numerous times and noyhing was done. Then i over heard nurse and doctor talking about me. So disgusted i asked for my IV 2 be removed and went elsewhere.

So my sister had hernia surgery here, fantastic. She is doing great right now since the surgery. They gave her a few pain pills, worked successfully. As she fell asleep they wheeled her into the surgery room and the surgeons were super nice and helpful. They gave her 2 hours to rest, and gave us a discount on the medical bill. After that, she had been diagnosed with severe anxiety, and we came back here. They helped her calm down, and she is feeling way better and is a track runner now with no pain in her stomach. Thank you so much for helping my mom give birth to us too, we were both born here. Again, thank you so much.!

I was disappointed in the fast track department of the ER. I went there for an eye trauma. The Physician's Assistant treated who I spoke to about my injury made it seem like I made the story up! She also didn't understand how I was hurt if I were wearing glasses. When she looked at my eye I did actually have an abrasion on my cornea. She then proceeded to tell me I'll be fine in a day or two but will give you some antibiotics and pain meds anyway. We then sat there for an hour with no one helping us. After an hour they gave me an ointment that I had to apply at home with no instructions for it! I was told by the nurse to hold on and then she said put it on 4 times a day! I read the box when I got home and it said only apply 2-3 times a daythis was shocking to me. The quality of care has definitely gone down hill. I was very disappointed. I hope it changes for the better soon.

Wow am I glad I came here. Arrived here for a sickle cell crisis and everyone from the check-in desk in emergency room to the nurses, techs, cleaning crew and the doctors both in the ER and on the floor once I was admitted have been nothing but WONDERFUL. so helpful so thoughtful always making sure I was ok. My nurses god are they heaven sent. Everyone here is so welcoming. Thanks for making a difference in my care and making this crisis feel a bit better.

Worst nurse ever - Sharon

Let me start by saying that the residential doctors and specifically a nurse name Sharon are the worst ever! If you are con in going to this hospital be warned stay away from getting induced labor regarding to having the balloon and specifically with the nurse named Sharon who is extremely rude and has no regard to the pain that you may go through. My wife was induced at this hospital with the balloon procedure. The residential doctor try to insert the balloon without giving my wife a cervix softner nor a Tylenol drip the moment my wife was feeling pain he should had stopped (tried it for 15-20 mins straight) my wife was in so much pain (worst than actually giving birth) that i almost passed out and I'm a combat vet it took another residential doctor (female) to do it with quick success The worst of all was the nurse named Sharon. I am flabbergasted at the incompetence that I have seen at this hospital, from the doctors, to administration, to billing. I don't know how they stay in business. I actually had to tell a resident doctor to administer IV to my son to prevent him from becoming dehydrated. We arrived at the emergency room at 10 pm and were not seen by a specialist until 8am. The nurses kept telling us they had contacted the surgeon, and later the surgeon said he had not been contacted. We are receiving bills and we can't get the hospital to bill the insurance company, they are sending bills directly to us without going through insurance, and now bills are going to collection. These are just some of the worst things that we have experienced at St Barnabas. I could go on. I just want to scream it out to anyone who will listen, to stay away! The review will not be posted unless I put a star otherwise I would not give any stars. And I will not go back to this hospital.

I visited ER with my 4 year old for a urology problem which required ultrasound
It took the hospital 3.5 hours in ER to just get my son be done with the ultrasound. After coming back to the ER room assigned to us, we again waited for a urologist to show up. Overall, it took me more than 4.5 hours just to get out of this place. Although staff is cordial, I will never subject my family to such pathetic hospital ever again. How are they even able to run this place where it takes so so long to get a very basic ultrasound. God knows how other people are dealing with ER here at St Barnabas.

Horrible experience. Day nurses are rude and hate their jobs. One nurse demanded we clean our room. I have a sick child and they demand cleaning now ? To get ticket validated it takes over half hour just to get out. You have to go through 3 windows. And then after the long wait, they tell you they don't validate unless your over age 65. Never heard of such a thing. On top of that they put a crying baby in our room while it's important for my child's condition to have good sleep. I would not recommend this place. It is awful.

Today I was absolutely appalled and disgusted by the care given to my father at this hospital. My father is a diabetic who was suffering from severe constipation and urine retention due to his medications. After putting in a Foley catheter to relieve the initial pressure from the urine retention, it seemed like all care stopped there. We were told by the doctor that my father would be released and to do an enema at home which we explained had been tried already and not worked. There response was "well this is an ER, and we aren't here to watch your father go to the bathroom." This response was said with a sarcastic and foul tone. After explaining that my father has atrophy in his hands and is alone most of the day, and would be unable to give himself an enema, they agreed to give him an enema and insisted that we leave immediately after. After the enema was given, NOT ONCE did a nurse or physician come to check on my father or help him to the bathroom. I had to act as my fathers nurse and guard the bathroom for him while he tried to relieve himself which was unsuccessful. Discharge papers were thrown in my face to sign for my father and that was the end of it. No one even helped clean him up after defacating on himself. That job was left to me. ABSOLUTELY INHUMANE treatment of a patient in need of medical attention. My father was treated like a number and a dollar sign $$$, not a patient. And it didn't end there. I was left to help my father out of the hospital with ZERO assistance from any staff. My father was extremely weak at the time as well. This establishment should be ashamed of themselves as should the nurses and doctors working in the Triage Unit. The lack of respect and care given was unjust and uncalled for. I hope this message reaches the higher ups at the hospital and I would request a response back.
