Have nothing but praises for this hospital!! Every staff member helpful and caring. We have been sent there for four different procedures from our hospital at the Jersey Shore. A special mention to Sean in the Cath Labre reception. He's a gem. So helpful to everyone and always has a smile on his face.

The actual care is fine. The customer service and reception is horrible. Wait times are unacceptable. I had a 9:45 appointment, still waited 1 hour and 15 minutes later. There is no accountability. They lied about an appointment I tried to make. My doctors office had to call and make the appointment. This will be my last time utilizing this hospital.

Very bad customer service. The operator was arguing with my mother and nothing was said to provoke her. When a family member is sick f course your going to be upset. She said “ don’t try me!” With an attitude lol that’s crazy someone needs to shut this hospital down. Also hasn’t contacted my grandmother since my grandpa has been in the hospital for a day. His blood sugar is 400, that’s a stroke. Nobody go here their horrible.

Horrible experience. That emergency room is the worst. The doctors treated me horribly until I left. No compassion or sensitivity. The only reason you're getting one star is because of Nurse Malcolm he was great👏👏👏. Everyone else 🖕🖕🖕💩💩💩

I dislike* this hospital more than anyone can imagine. After my mom's stroke she was moved down from icu to a different unit. My mom had a massive stroke and can barely communicate with anyone. I took pictures of how she was left in her urine and feces and no one could tell me when she was cleaned. As if I am not worried enough about her getting better, our family and friends have to stay at the hospital late at night in shifts just to see if she is okay. What makes it worse is that some of the staff here only move and do work when you want to file a complaint or when they notice that you are concerned and will document everything. On the bright side, we have met some great nurses in this unit that have been so helpful and give us as much information as possible. Nurse like them put us at ease, but they are few and far between. If it is an emergency and your loved one is admitted here please be cautious and stay on top of the staff and transfer them as soon as possible.Ask questions, write down the name of everyone you speak to and take a photo of their board so that you document the care plan & etc. The care here is too inconsistent and you never know who or what you are going to get. Your loved one is important to you and with the amount of stress that you will feel due to his/her condition, the last thing you need to stress about is the care that he/she is receiving.

I came in for a same day surgery on Aug 31st and the surgery itself went well.
Check in at the same day surgery center was smooth. The young lady was very professional and extremely helpful in allowing access to the stairs to get a family member who fears getting in elevators.
My pre-admission was great. Conchita the pre-admission nurse was very pleasant in getting me prepared for the surgery. My surgeon, anesthesiologist, resident physician were all fantastic.
The thoroughness in them going through my medical history enabled them to catch 2 potential serious allergies I have (in my nervousness I forgot about them).
Once I was being wheeled into surgery, I was impressed the with professionalism and cleanliness and went in 100% confident.
However, my outpatient nurse in the recoupment room clearly either doesn’t enjoy being a nurse or simply has a horrible bedside manner. Every question, me or my family asked was like a bother to her walking off in the middle of a question or request. Frequently left the curtains wide open and had a very loud conversation with a fellow nurse right next to me while I was trying to rest.
My blood pressure monitor frequently was blinking due to elevated high blood pressure and my sister had to look for other medical folks on the floor. The final straw was went she jammed a syringe in my IV to push/get rid of a huge air bubble. The pain was extremely sharp and unexpected at that point I was determined that I had to check out of the hospital although I wasn’t confident in leaving yet.
Perhaps this OP nurse was simply overworked and overwhelmed I do not know. What I do know is that you cannot have someone like that in charge of monitoring people who are temporarily incapacitated.
So five stars for the surgery experience but one star for the OP recovery experience averages out to about a 3 star experience.response / report this review -

I am currently in the pediatric unit with my child at Newark Beth Israel Hospital. I must say the only thing that saves this hospital is the staff. And I mean the nurses, can't say much about the physicians since I've barely seen one since I've been here. The nurses who cared for my daughter have been great. I wish I could rate my experience based on the them but there's so much more to a good experience than just the staff. For example, My daughter was placed in a semi private room with another child who cried for atleast 4 hours. When I asked for another room I was told they'd look into it and that was 3 hours ago. I'm still in the same room with atleast 3 empty rooms on the floor. Next, the iv pump is beeping because it says low battery. I asked a nurse to please make the beep stop and she said that they don't have any more pumps left and that I have to deal with it unfortunately. The pump beeps every few minutes with no way to adjust the sound. So for a whole overnight my daughter and I were kept awake by the sound of a beeping pump every few minutes. So I have the crying baby and pump to deal with. I realize that a crying baby is not a nurse priority and something to deal with on a pediatric floor but to have me in a semi private room with a poor kid who won't stop crying for hours is unreasonable. I almost took my daughter and signed her out AMA. I also have a problem with how the parents are treated here. Why should my daughters father and I have to choose which of us will stay with our own child? We both want to be with our daughter why should we have to choose ? There's no way for a parent to get comfortable. They have chairs for parents to sit in and 1 recliner. So basically one of the parents is comfortable while the other sits on a chair for hours while dealing with their sick child. There's no place for a parent to wash up I have to leave my child to go outside the unit every time I have to use the bathroom and then also try to shower over the sink. My daughter was placed in a large room with another bed. The room is so large they decided to store medical equipment in it. So in the room with my daughter and the other patient is whole bunch of medical equipment (from wheel chairs to computers) just thrown. So nurses come in and out grabbing equipment. I just can't believe this is Newark Beth Israel. I heard amazing things about this place and when I arrived here I could not believe this is what people talked about. I wish I could post the pictures I took of the room I'm in. It's shameful. I will never come back to this place again or recommend it to any of my friends or family.

My husband was transferred to NIB following a disastrous surgery at Jersey shore and arrived there in carcinogenic shock, barely alive. The doctors, surgeon's, nurses, and ALL staff were amazing. They worked tirelessly to save his life, he is now recovered and is working toward getting his life back to normal. I cannot thank them enough.

Am at the Beth Israel hospital right now I eat pepper and can talk so one nurse is rude to me! She called me black on her low voice and she take me in and out of the emergency! I am on a wheelchair and she push the wheelchair to the front table with out saying sorry! And she left off duty! People like that most be removed from the hospital! She is in Triage room! If no one was there am not safe😩! I need help I can not speak because of the pepper and am so so so so so cold! Need help!

Horrible experience, they do not care about their clients. Even will laugh when they think you not looking. I have a gastritis condition and if you know what that is that's the acid in your stomach eating away at your stomach lining sometimes an attack in trigger causing you to throw up uncontrollably you can't sit still and the pain doesn't go away when I complain saying I couldn't take the pain they will send security to escort you out with no respect so when they threw me out few minutes later I threw up on my way to the veterans hospital as soon as I got to the veterans hospital 30 minutes later they gave me medicine to kill my pain dehydrated and very woozy I passed out now I see all of this because I was born at Beth Israel Hospital and they are a piece of s*** excuse my language

This hospital i dont like it at all i took my daughter to emergency first will im waiting inside some of the staff sitting playing with there cel and joking i took my daughter very sick and after an hour and ahalf they went to see my daughter then i had to wait 45 min they put the IV and gave her the medication then we spent 5 hours for them to let us know what she had then they send us home and my daughter was still vomatine and with fever i went back the next day cuz she got worse and a other hour waiting in emergency..

Female doctor ( with glasses) in L&D very rude as if she's getting tired of me coming here l when I don't feel good. Literally going back and forth with me about how when I come to the doctor my heart rate is fine, but I'm telling her when I'm home I feel as if I can't breathe and I'm having heart palpations. It seems as if she thinks I'm exaggerating. I'm really thinking about delivering at st. Barnabas because she made me feel VERY uncomfortable

My experience with this Hospital I must say was pretty good. Even though I lost my child which was the most painful thing i have ever gone through, all the doctors and the nurses were excellent. The only small problem I have was the lady registering me she had a little attitude. But I definitely would recommend.

The staff on the 4th floor - Geriatric Ward - are the best!!
All of the aids, nurses, administration, and housekeeping staff who assisted with our grandmother's care were very kind, patient, and gentle with her. The were attentive not only to her needs, but to our family's needs as we assisted with her round-the-clock care. Thanks to all of the staff on A4, my grandmother was able to recover and regain her strength enough to be eligible for rehabilitation. Thank you A4!!!response / report this review
