Authentic Italian food in a traditional setting. One of Detroit's oldest and best. Great staff. Wonderful dishes. The Roma salad is delicious.
UPDATE: Roma Cafe closed. There is a change in ownership and is undergoing renovation.
I love Roma Cafe. I hope that they reopen soon under the new owner.
Has Roma reopened under new owner? Lots of great memories at the Roma.
Great customer service, and romantic atmosphere. 4 stars because menu is very traditional and not very creative. But food is consistently good.
Always "painfully" delicious. Their spaghetti sauce is the best I have ever tasted, I believe it has no rival in this area.
I always recommend Roma to out of town visitors. Since 1890 this Italian eatery has been feeding hungry Detroiters with class. It now attracts those seeking traditional recipes served in a gracious, nostalgic style that is hard to find these days. Located on the edge of the historic Eastern Market, you should not miss a chance to dine here. Trust me, you will not leave hungry!
A really great "old"(as in not nuovo) Italian restaurant It's "dated" in the best possible way and the food is as fine an example of traditional Italian you are going to find anywhere.
if you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine with a pure Italian dining experience, this is the place to go! delicious menu items with fine wine pairings, excellent servers, and live music to complete the experience. if you are in the area, this hidden gem of a restaurant is worth the stop!
Great food. Nice wait staff, professionally dressed. Have been here a few times and it's never a bad experience.
Wouldn't let us get a salad instead of soup. We could only have green beans instead. Boring decor. I ordered cheese ravioli with marinara sauce, which tasted more like a salsa than a pasta sauce. We also got cheese bread which came out burt. The only plus to this restaurant was that we got good portions and EXCELLENT service. (The only reason I didn't send my food back.)
Going to Roma is like walking into a time machine. It's an old-fashioned Italian-style American white linen restaurant. The food is pretty good if you order carefully. The wine selection is very good. If you aren't sure about choosing a bottle, don't be afraid to ask for help. Prices are high. You could have better food somewhere else, but if you're craving a little pampering in a warm, cozy, romantic setting, you could do a lot worse.
