Love Amtrak. We make the round trip from Rochester to Chicago several times a year. I've always learned that if you treat the staff with respect you get it back. Never a problem. This new station in Rochester is great!!
Amazing new facility! Greeted by a friendly staff member. Very clean. Ample drop off area for taxi/Lift/Uber.
The place is fantastic! The staff were wonderful! Kind, patient and helpful. Makes taking the train a pleasurable experience.
Massive improvement on the old station. Would be nice to have a Starbucks or something but I'm not going to complain. The staff are really nice. The waiting area is much more comfortable than the old station
BEWARE OF CAR THEFT! My car was left overnight in Rochester and when I came back it was gone!! Amtrak personnel (older balding guy) did nothing and told me, "This has never happened here before, even in the old place. Call the police." That was it. A younger kid, Chris, took total control over the situation and was extremely helpful assisting the police officer with surveillance tapes. He was kind, considerate, and empathetic to our situation. He deserves a promotion as his customer service skills shine!! The other guy, fire! Not enough cameras. Train was an hour late leaving and hour and a half coming back. Personnel at the Niagara Falls station were less than helpful relating delay information. We did not know the train coming in was coming from Canada and needed to go through a customs check upon arrival. We were all waiting by the door to load train, and some "worker" told us, "You might as well sit down it is going to be a while yet since they have to clear the train." He was rude and acted as if we were supposed to know. An off duty staff member was there talking to the girl on duty and looking at cell phone the whole time we were delayed. No communication or updates given the 1.5 hour delay. I had to look it up on my phone while waiting!! Not a great first train ride experience!! May be our last!!
I was worried about parking based on recent reviews, but found it was actually not so bad - arrived 40min before departure and parking was plenty.
Beautiful looking train station.parking for 15 cars! Who ever is responsible for the parking design should be fired! Plan on parking in a garage or having someone drop you off
We were told to be there 1 hour prior to departure. The train was scheduled for 5:16 AM and we were there prior to 4:00 AM. There is no agent present until 5:00 AM and no access to the lobby or anything. It was complete waste of our time with absolutely nothing to do. The rest rooms were absolutely filthy and the dirtiest we had ever seen. There are absolutely no instructions or directions of where you should go, no information whatsoever and no phone number or other emergency information displayed for the public. Many others kept asking if this was the Amtrak station because of the lack of signage. The waiting area for the train departure is a joke. There is only a cover overhead and absolutely no protection from the elements on the sides. Thank fully we departed on a good day. This will be our first and our last trip on Amtrak and we certainly would never recommend the Rochester, NY location as we would consider it a complete embarrassment for our city. The Amtrak station at Rochester, New York was just unbelievable.
The current Amtrak station is a very small temporary station while the new one is under construction. There is very little room in the waiting room, and the small platform causes a bit of chaos when boarding a longer train.
Parking is extremely limited. We arrived over an hour before our train was to depart, and the lot was completely full. At a complete loss for what to do, I walked into the station and spoke with Amtrak employee Brain who was extremely helpful. He helped us to park along a fence and assured us our car would not be towed. I'm very thankful for his help!
It is under construction at the moment. Limited parking.
Seems like the antechamber to Oblivion.
Soulless, falling apart, makes most bus stations look good by comparison.
A disgrace to the city of Rochester!
Very small place.
I traveled from Rochester to New York City I had a pleasant trip and it's very comfortable I recommend it .
Arrive early to get a spot in the cozy lobby area. Train was on time! Looking forward to the new train station coming online in Fall 2017
