Nice modern-ish cabins. No TV though. Big field our group plays kickball and ultimate in. Easy drive to Appalachian trail. We go there every Thanksgiving.

I usually like more backcountry type camping but going into a place that I have never visited I usually reserve a spot at a frontcountry campground. Roan Mountain state park campground was pretty typical for these types of campgrounds.

The front part of the campground is RV camping and the back part is the tent camping area. I was tent camping so that is what I will talk about. The spots are fairly close together, not really the back to nature experience I want on a camping trip, you can clearly hear the people camped in the adjoining spots. Each spot has a tent pad, lantern post, fire ring and BBQ grill. The campground has potable running water at each site and centrally located bathrooms with showers. The bathrooms/showers were clean and heated, also there is free WIFI for campers. The tent areas are $13.75 per night and an additional $5 reservation fee. You have to buy heat treated firewood, which they sell at the campground office, I did not buy any so don't know how much it costs.

I started to give this campground 3 stars because this is not the kind of camping I enjoy and as a result did not enjoy staying there. Thinking about it I did not think that was fair so I changed it to 5 stars because it is a clean well ran campground that is not terribly expensive just not the type of camping I enjoy.

One of my favorite state parks..or any park for that matter. Great facilities and the cabins are super nice. The real gem are the balds, but overall this is a very well run park with something for everyone.

My 14 month old & I had a great time at the Autumn Harvest at the Miller Farmstead at Roan Mountain State Park! The views were amazing, the people were wonderful, the food was awesome and the music and history priceless

Beautiful setting, but unfortunately it was rainy, foggy and snowy for days. Very nice cabin w/wood burning stove. But be mindful, if you choose a cabin that looks secluded or out of the way, you have to load up a cart with all your stuff and wheel it to your cabin up and down a hilly walkway. Was tossing stuff off the cart to get there 😃😄. Was there in November, empty and peaceful. Not so friendly staff but, would return.

Our favorite staycation spot in NE TN. Plenty of tent and RV camping spots, and easy to use restroom facilities. Short walk to the pool during summer months. Hike the trails or sit down and read, it is very relaxing.

Stunning view on Round Bald-Engine Bald-Jane Bald trail. Reminds me of scenes from movie Sound of Music. "The hills are alive with the sounds of music". The camping facility is one of the best, very clean with warm water for shower.

If you’re looking for a peaceful camping area go to Roan Mountain State Park in the winter or early spring.
We went to Roan Mountain in mid-March there were five other campers besides us. We felt as though we had the place to ourselves. We hiked a couple of the trails, then hiked them again the next day because it had snowed and made everything look so beautiful with the snow covering the rhododendron plants and dusting the banks of the creek.

My version of heaven. I've motorcycle camped here a few times and make any excuse I can to make the 10 hour drive to spend time at this wonderful park. I love tent camping right next to the river and have done so numerous times. Every single time it is exactly what the doctor ordered and when I have to regretfully leave, I do so with fully recharged batteries. Don't tell too many people though, got to keep this place a secret!

We have been visiting the park as a group of friends every year since 2009 for summer camps and we love the park with it's very friendly staff. It is an amazing place for family vacationing if you are a nature lover.

My favorite place to get snowed in. The Park office even supplies sleds at no cost. The cabins are clean and we'll stocked. Best partthe firewood is supplied and free. Great place for the family. I've only ever been there in the winter but I'm sure it's beautiful in the other seasons too.
