Upscale restaurant on West side of Indy. Sets on Eagle Creek with slips for boaters to & eat or have drinks

Highly recommend sitting outdoors. Service was good too. I got the shrimp and scallop linguine and my wife the pork chop. The linguine was bland and waaaay overpriced. The pork chop, however, was among the best I have ever had. I also had a Bloody Mary that was good, not great. I would also suggest skipping the salmon nachos, meh. We will be returning because I want to try the pork chops for myself.
Update: Met some family here for Thanksgiving. We ordered the pulled pork nachos, VERY GOOD. Highly recommended. I ordered the Prime and Cheese sandwich. It was criminally under seasoned and there is NO way this sandwich is worth $15. It is a $9.99 value at the very most (felt closer to a $7.99 sandwich). As before, service was very good. Not sure if we will be back. Hard to get over the lack of value for what is offered.response / report this review -

It saddens me to leave this review honestly I've been putting it off :( Rick's used to be an institution here on the Westside of Indy.
I started going when they had their wonderfully cozy spot downtown @ Union Station & followed to their current local.
It was my go to for a cocktail @ the bar in the cold months while listening to some great live jazz & a bite to eat on the deck in the Summer.
What has happened to this establishment over the years just saddens me.
It's been years since I can recall listening to a decent band/music there, the food just keeps getting more $$$ with the portions getting smaller & the quality is abysmal. The service I've received the last couple visits has been good but I've noticed tables around me waiting on food for an hour, orders coming out wrong etc you get the picture. I kept going back in hopes of improvement that somehow/some way they had pulled it together only to be disappointed once more :/response / report this review -

I love coming to this place. The service is always warm and welcoming the food is awesome and their little pizza are so good. And no matter what Seafood you have it's all phenomenal

I can't say how good or bad the food was because we did not even get served. Customer Service here has been by far the worst experience I have ever encountered. I had a reservation and still could not get a seat I wanted upon arrival. Once seated, it took about 30 minutes for a server to ask us if we've been helped. It then took another 10 minutes for us to get some water, which was dropped off without asking if we were ready to order. As a result, we left and notified the hostess. There was no apology whatsoever. Therefore, I contacted the manager to discuss the situation and to request compensation for a later date, since I was fed up with the service. The manager was not willing to work with us despite our horrible experience and only offered us a free drink if we came back that same day. To wrap it all up, customer service is terrible. Do not go here if you have something special planned or if you want something quick, unless you are willing to wait upwards to an hour for it.

I've been here several times for lunch and dinner. 80/90 percent of the time the food is spot-on and service is pretty speedy. Even when they're off their game it's still one of the better restaurants in town, and the veiw over the water is awesome.

Outdoor bar is fun. The service was great and the appetizers were good. If you like calamari, try it here - very tender and delicious!

Went here for my birthday a week ago. Must say I was excited, I had always wanted to go here and finally had an excuse to. At first glance upon walking in, the view was great. The prices were somewhat high but that was expected. I was looking forward to my yearly seafood. Their bread they give to you before your meal comes is amazing. But then our meals came and,well, I have to say other wise. Our meals came but one, my sisters and it didn't seem as if our waiter was even aware she was missing her food. Upon us waiting for him to show up and notice she had no food, my dad's prime rib was dry and cold as it had just came out of the fridge. After about 10 minutes the waiter showed up with my sisters food but said he had made an error and rang her up for a bigger steak than she had gotten and would have to charge her for it anyway. Our table was stunned he told her she had to pay for his mistake. She got the bigger steak but would've had to pay for it because he rang up the wrong thing? Finally as my dad's food was brought back with a new prime rib my boyfriend went and got the manager and told him our issues we had had. My dad said his prime rib was still cold but he ate it. This is just one of the issues and it wasn't really the restaurants fault.The manager made everything right for us at the end, I was just disappointed for my birthday. That's not why I give them a 2. The food is NOT worth the price. I got the seafood platter and it was not worth the very expensive price. The view, great. The food, not so great. I don't think I would go back for a meal there unfortunately.

This restaurant is excellent, and easily one of Indy's best. Fresh seafood is hard to come by in the Midwest, and Rick's manages to serve and ship fresh fish every day. I could not recommend you go here enough. The prices are high, but they are absolutely worth it!

Love this place, especially during the summer, where you can sit on the patio and watch the sunset. Always busy, so get there early if you're trying to catch the sunset on the patio. Wish they would expand the patio bar and surrounding area, as that is the best place during nice weather. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Food is always amazing. I'm never disappointed after visiting!

Wanted to fly my family in from Northern Indiana for a good dinner. Called before flying to make sure seating wouldn't be an issue and if we needed a reservation. We were assured there would be seating "not a problem at all". So, we gassed up the plane and flew to Ricks, only to be told that there would be an 1 hour wait. When I mentioned that it would have been helpful to tell me about the wait on the phone the reply was "I can't help what someone else told you on the phone." What? So we loaded up the plane and flew to a more customer friendly restaurant.

Never going there to be insulted again!
My fiance and I visit Rick's frequently. We live in the area, and it's not unusual for us to dine there a couple times a week. The food is always excellent. The service is sometimes hit or miss, but my experience today was enough for me to decide to never spend my money there again.
I purchased a gift card for my in-laws for Christmas. When they went to pay for their dinner using the gift card I purchased for them the server came back to the table to inform them that their card was showing a balance of zero. I always save receipts whenever giving a gift card in case there are any issues. The server took the gift card receipt and left the table.
The manager returns to inform us that their records show that the gift card had been purchased and then used a few hours later. My father-in-law responded that this was the first time they have ever been to Rick's. I asked why would they still have the card if it had been used? The manager said he would do further research and left our table.
Our server returns and simply states the manager has taken care of the gift card.
The manager did not return to apologize for the inconvenience or to admit any type of fault on their behalf. Leaving a loyal customer being treated as if they had done something wrong in front of their loved ones, whom they had purchased a gift for is absolutely ridiculous.response / report this review -

Fine dining at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is everything you would expect for lake side dining. Outside seating could have been a tad more comfortable than the cheap plastic lawn chairs that we had, but the view more than made up for it. Food was superb. Staff were professional and on point.

I had a wonderful time here! Even though I'm an Illinois resident, I always enjoy eating here whenever I visit. The decor fit well with the theme, and though the food is a tad bit pricey, the service was fast, the food was WONDERFUL, and even though our waiter was new and a bit clueless, (he didn't even know the soup of the day) he was very fast and nice. I will always enjoy eating here. Good job Rick!

We love Rick's and go here often. Food has always been great. The waitresses are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menus. Food presentation is beautiful. I love the atmosphere at Rick's. Never been disappointed. I recommend the Rico Dip and the Cajun seafood dish.
