Outstanding. My friends and I drove from Marion, IA to Columbus, OH for 3 straight years to see the Buckeyes play. We always hit this place on the way back. If you're worried about the price, go for lunch. And as great as the salad bar is, don't load up too much on it. Big mistake on my part
Good steakhouse. Every one enjoyed their meal. For the price it's about worth some may argue it's a bit pricey. Had the Jack Daniels New York Strip which despite the description lacked flavor and for the price an 8 ounce filet would have been a better deal. The buns. Okay so they are big hot fluffy buns served with strawberry jam, yes they are great.
I teetered between 3 or 4 stars. A few years ago, this would be easy 5. It needs some work (grounds). Food: It's good stuff, but not great. Ordered my steak MED, it was kinda tuff. Overall, not a bad trip, just not as great as we had hoped considering past trips were better. Still, we'd come again
As they say, sell the sizzle not the stake. Stakes are ok for the money. Great wait staff. Beautiful lodge atmosphere. The yeast rolls and strawberry jam are second to none.
My family and I drove to the Beef House from Indianapolis. It was about an hour away drive. My first time at the Beef House was satisfied. Family Friendly Environment. Food was Hot, Fresh and Delicious. My family and I greeted by a nice friendly staff. I Absolutely Love their Salad Bar. I'm not a huge fan of salad but I was barely at my table, I kept went for their various salads nonstop. Rolls with Apple Butter, Homemade Fresh Chicken Fingers and JUICY STEAK ! I would love to go back again.
This steak house is always clean and the food is always good. it is a 2 hour drive from my house but we make a special trip or two every year for special occasions. The prices are average for a high end steak house. The steaks have always been cooked to perfection. They also have great deserts if you don't get enough steak.
So much awesome in this place! Let's talk about the rolls firstHot, buttery, delicious and plentiful. Add fresh made apple butter and strawberry jam, you could make a meal out of these. The salad bar and soup come with the dinner meals. Fresh and good. The menu is amazing, delicious seafood or Beef - that's what's for dinner. I always promise myself I'm going to eat in moderation here, it simply can't be done! Highly recommended.
Nice gem of a restaurant. They show case all their meats in a cooler when you walk in. Food was great, needed a little salt for my taste but excellent. Steaks were great!, pork chops were excellent and chicken fingers were homemade. Large salad bar and delicious soups. They bring out fresh Yeast Rolls and bring enough to bring home with bags. The homemade strawberry jam and apple butter were to die for! We bought two jars to go. Service was good and fast. Entree included, a side, soup, salad bar and drinks. We are a family of 6 with young kids and this place had plenty for them to eat. When driving down this way I would go out of the way to stop there again.
Pretty miserable excuse for a steak house. If you don't specifically ask for salt and pepper when ordering your steak will come out unseasoned and bland. The steak is served on a plate resting in its own juices which have been spilled out rather than seared in. The cooks are all too incompetent to make a medium rare steak that is seared on both sides. Even though there's a mm of well doneness on the seared side and like 1/4 inch of rare space before the other side.
My medium rare steak was served as medium AND rare. Parts cooked, other parts practically raw. It's a nice environment with a decent salad bar and applebutter spread for their good rolls. But at $25+ for steak that they can't even cook properly, I'd try something less expensive on the menu.
This is my second, and probably last time coming here. I am incredibly disappointed, don't be surprised if you get disappointed too.
Was told by local hotel staff that this restaurant was voted the best steakhouse in Indiana and should give it a try. I was not impressed with the 10 oz ribeye. Salad bar was good though.
This is the best place for enjoying delicious steaks, a salad bar with everything you can imagine, fresh rolls that melt in your mouth and even sweet deserts you will remember! And they will accommodate even the largest family gatherings with a little notice. Family, good down home food, and great service in a gorgeous rural setting, life has delightful surprises and the Beef House takes the cake.
First time I've ever been disappointed with this place! As per a family Easter tradition, I planned on taking my family here for a dinner after a late Easter church service. Instead of getting dinner, I was met with a sign at the door that indicated the restaurant was closed (even though they were operating on normal Sunday hours, and we were there a couple of hours before their closing time). I called over to inquire why they closed early, and was told it was a staffing issue. Like I said before, I have never once had a bad experience at the Beef House (and it's a favorite of my entire family), but this experience left me very disappointed. They're so much better than this!!!
I've been coming to the Beef House for years. Famous for their cuts of beef. Steaks are pure beef flavor, no additional spice. Preparations are spot on. Honestly, I prefer a spice or crust on my steak, so your mileage may vary. An 8 oz ribeye is $22.95. Is steak worth $45.90 per pound? Eh, not really. If the meat had a "wow" factor, I'd raise it to five stars. But four on consistency, sides, and nostalgia.
