As a single parent I'm always skeptical of where I take my car to be serviced, I've had few bad experiences where I was over charged and even charged for something I didn't need but my car overheated and it was an emergency I called several mechanic shops who couldn't see me for over a week when I called Mike from Randy's Auto Repair he picked up close to after 5p I told him what was going on and that I'm disabled and don't have much he told me to bring the car in the next day! He repaired the car for practically nothing !! I've read he has competitive prices I think he does, he's a good guy.
Good honest guys. Mike the owner is straight forward and tells you everything that's going on. I've never had them try to sell me things I didn't need and they've always been able to work on my car quickly and get it back within the same day.
I've never been to this car shop, so I decided to give them a shot since they're right next to my work. I had a few simple repairs and a couple major repairs that needed to be done. So I called to get a quote on spark plugs, seems like a common and simple quote. He told me he needed my VIN for a quote. So it told him I'd get that for him. I was rudely told he'd only give me a quote if my vehicle was physically there (just after stating all he needed was my VIN)otherwise call around auto part stores if I wanted a quote. His tone was rude and the way he brushed me off wasn't very professional. If you can't be professional with a quote, how can someone trust you'll do a professional job on their car? Right? I feel like I dodged a bullet. I called the next auto shop and got an estimated quote in 5 minutes. It just shows he wasn't willing to put just a little extra effort. They lost $$$ that needed to be put into my car.
I've been going to Randy's Auto Repair in Santa Cruz since 2005. The owner, Mike, is knowledgeable, thorough and honest. He will tell you everything that 's going on with your car and then tell you what it needs to be done immediately and what could wait if you are low on funds. That kind of honesty is refreshing. All of the mechanics are very skilled and prompt. Mike runs the business with integrity and truly wants to keep you safely driving. I would highly recommend Randy's Auto Repair to everyone.
Just needed an oil change. They almost tricked my wife by telling her that they did not do oil change without inpection !!! so an $25 oil change was going to be $100!!! What a scam
