PROS: A perennial favorite on Tripadvisor, this smallish mom & pop operation offers one of Mackinaw City's best locations. Restaurants and ferry docks within walking distance as well as downtown shops. It's clean and affordable.
CONS: That being said; be aware motel was built as a motor court in the 1950s. Though refurbished, It's old and outdated, not close to being at even par with most other hotels in the area. Rooms are small, cramped with little room to spread out. No vanity area. Bathrooms have half sinks, and postage stamp size ceramic tile showers. Hotel's reputation is largely maintained by an older cliental who are return customers and fiercely loyal to long time owners. Hotel offers indoor pool but little else for families. No 24 hr desk, no room service. No breakfast offered. Parking cramped and limited. No overflow parking for vehicles pulling trailers on premises. NOT recommended for larger families

A friend recommended this hotel and I was completely impressed with its simple design. Single floor plan with many rooms stayed an extra night because we enjoyed our first night.
Nostalgic motel. Very friendly staff. Rooms were straight out of decades past. Everything was clean and we'll kept. They had coffee and tea hot and ready during the day. We will definitely stay again. Great price for quality of facility.
Astonishingly small rooms. No (zero) closet space. Just four hooks on the wall to hang your clothes. It's probably OK for a one night stay, but not for any longer (unless you LIKE living out of a suitcase). It's the kind of room where you open the door and bump into the bed. Other than that, it's clean, safe and cheap.
Booked the room because of the review. Trust me the reviews didn't disappoint! This motel is extremely clean. Whirlpools both inside and outside CLEAN, indoor pool CLEAN! Grounds are maintained better than any other hotel/motel on Huron street. We had a burned out light bulb in the bathroom. Called the office and within 5 minutes the light bulb was changed. No negative comments. Very friendly service. Definitely will stay here on our next visit!
Great! The best and friendlies place in the area!!!
Tom and Laurie will treat you like a Royal! After a horrific experience at Days Inn down the street,
they restored our faith in humanity. They could not have been more efficient respectful and congenial. Clean, comfortable rooms. You cannot go wrong here.
Its cute comfortable place to stay.
The people know hospitality!
You need a bed and bath away from home, they have it!
Room was clean, bed clean, and overall really good for the price we paid. Pretty small room, but it was just for a night and comfy. The shower was really small, and the bathroom tiles were like ice, which was weird for being in the late spring and being warm out all day. No breakfast offered, but again not an issue for me. The staff was very friendly. I'd definitely recommend the Rainbow Motel to anybody staying in Mackinac City who doesn't need all the bells and whistles of a larger hotel, but who still wants a clean and nice place to stay.
