Nice park. Beautiful setting.
A small Beach and boat ramps. Has good playground with a variety of equipment. Campsites almost all have nice views of the lake but are small and not much privacy. Roads are paved. There are multiple large picnic pavilions. Public restrooms require a keypad code to get in.
Campground host was very unprofessional and unwelcoming. Our campsite was very small, and the campsite behind us was allowed to put their camper 3-5' onto our site. Host says that is how they always do that campsite. We were refunded, but their policy doesn't refund the $6 convenience fee. We had to leave and get a hotel nearby. Even if we had stayed, our two tents would have prohibited a campfire in our pit or the pits around our site. It wouldn't have been safe. Our friends stayed, and couldn't have a campfire because their pit was under their camper awning. They also couldn't sleep due to the bright light.
I do not recommend this campground.
What a pleasant Campground to stay! We love week days. Quiet low key!
We came to this park because they had a site for us. Every State Park was full through the weekend.
We are very happy to camp here. Our site was perfect for our Motor home. The manager Lyle is a super guy, friendly and very helpful. Nice setting on Intermediate Lake. Yes there is big lights at night throughout the campground but they did not bother us. We would return. Nearby Torch Lake, Charlevoix, Petosky, to name a few. We will return.
Cozy little place! Although we had a great experience. There are a few things to be aware of first before deciding to stay. The campsites are very close to one another. As long as you are okay with being friendly with your neighbors you should be okay. The campsites on the water seemed to be the best choice if they're available. There are also flood lights at night that never turn off! The worst thing was the fire pits were placed in the most akward places. Ours was literally on the line of the other parties camp site that we were told not to crossoverall not a bad stay for the price. Owner a good guy!
Nice manager Lyle, very helpful. Camping right on Central Lake.
Fun place to stop with kids. Playground, fishing, swimming.
Nice clean place with clean facilities also a nice boat launch.
I really liked this campground. What do they say about location ? It has a great location . It is right on the lake an you can walk to town. There is s grocery store, a 5 an dime , a bakery an cafe, a woman's clothing store an pizza place all within a block or two.
The park manager seemed to be right on top of everything as well.
Two lights are left on for safety so it doesn't get dark in that part of the campground. That did bother some people.
We come to Thurston Park Campground each year for a week long camping trip with the whole family! The rates are a great price. The bathrooms are always clean and we never have to wait in a line to use the shower. The lake front lots allow for great swimming and floating just feet from your fire pit. I would recommend this little gem to anyone looking to make wonderful camping memories!
