I've lived at this complex for almost five years. I think it's a great place to live as the area is safe, management is responsive & noise is minimal. As far as value, I find it high.

This was my family's first experience living in an apartment since 2002. We did a lot of research since we have a larger dog. Nothing in Oconomowoc that allows large dogs compares for the price and the closer you get towards MKE every apartment complex goes up for another $200. We lived there about 1.5 years before breaking the lease to buy a house. Never had any trouble with management and just thought the "fix it guy" was great. He always said hi. Never had a problem with packages as others noted. As I recall you could give them permission to leave it in your unit if you couldn't pick it up in time. Fitness Center and pool were great too. Only issue we had was with other dog owners. I busted multiple people that didn't pick up after their dogs so I supported the management in their attempt to hold the correct dog owners responsible. I challenge anyone who has complained to find a nicer place for the money.

Apartments are decent but the new management is awful. Say they are pet friendly but they constantly threaten to DNA test dogs to see who isn't picking up poop. Then they remove all the trash cans on the property where poop would normally be thrown out, causing people to pile up their dog poop on the lawns instead. Duh, removing trash cans is just going to make people not clean up their dog poop.
Meanwhile, they increase rent a ridiculous amount. So rent goes up, and in return they remove trash cans? In what world does that make sense.
Along with that, they are absolutely awful at giving people their packages. Multiple times, I've gone and said I had a package (because they texted saying they had a package for me) only for them to tell me they have nothing. They just flat out lie instead of actually looking in their little closet for the package.
Worst management, go somewhere else.

Management leaves something to be desired, as well as the quality of these 'new' buildings. Office closes early nearly once a week, then nasty emails are sent about package pickupdifficult to accomplish for people who work regular hours when the office closes early. For a community that is dog friendly, they certainly make a lot of threats to responsible dog owners because some people don't pick up after their pets. I mean, DNA testing the crap they find on the property and claiming it will raise the rent for all of us? This place is ridiculous. Expect to have your hard-wired smoke detectors go off frequently, then management to tell you to unhook them until they can get to replacing them. I recommend saving your money and finding more courteous/responsive management elsewhere.

Amazing apartments! Always kept well maintained and if there's ever an issue the property mangers/ maintenance help right away. I had to move due to job relocation and I looked at just about every place in southern WI/ northern IL and nothing really compared. (with pool, fittness room, club house, private entry, updated, and more) Plus it's very pet friendly here! If you are looking in the area I would highly suggest looking into the Preserve or even making a longer commute because it'll be well worth it.

The staff and management at the Preserve are top notch. Expeditious response, courteous demeanor and constant communication retain my residency. The management cannot be held responsible for the residents' disregard for the property or landscape. Pet owners are the problem. Management does everything in their power to rectify an issue and displays a great deal of patience dealing with the residents at the Preserve. I would strongly encourage Wangard to terminate the current pet policy and the acquiescing of pet owners. Overall, Kevin does a fantastic job maintaining and repairing the property. Terry and Stephanie in the Preserve office are a pleasure to work with as well. I also appreciate the ability to submit payment and request service calls via online portal. By far the best luxury complex of its ilk in the area.

Very uncaring and rude staff.Maintenance takes forever to fix an issue and then when they come they are extremely rude about having to fix things and blame the tenant as if they did it on purpose. Often management is very rude and disrespectful to tenants, making rude comments or having a rude demeanor when addressing an issue. Advertised as a pet friendly community, but pet owners are met with distaste when discussing their pets with management. Advertised as a welcoming community, but I have never had more issues with neighbors being rude and disrespectful of property. The buildings, pool, and playground are nice, but the personnel is terrible!
