We have lived in Lansing for over 30 years, and are sad that the Potter Park Zoo Christmas Lights are getting poorer and poorer every year.
When we used to take our young children to this event years ago, the light show was wonderful! Now they are depending on businesses to put up their own small trees and put lights on them. The zoo itself hasn't done much to keep lights up themselves. They say they don't have enough money, but the new Projection Lights are INEXPENSIVE and easy to put up. There are designs of snowflakes and other designs to light up the many fence walls. Very sad. We will not be returning in the future for this event.

Loved the Wonderland of Lights! There was ornament decorating, cookie decorating, cute small/cheap toys and aminals to learn about and touch. Such an experience sent two hours and my 3 year old was so excites to see Santa. What a great experience!!! Thank you for doing so much!

The Christmas lights show was nice, but I remember it being more fun as a kid. Santa was there and Mrs Clause was nice enough to take a photo with my cell phone instead of trying to sell me a picture for a fortune, so that was nice. Very limited in the animals that you can see (as it is dark and many are inside), but non the less it was a good time and inexpensive. $6 or $7 for adults and $5 or $6 for kids.

This zoo is a great place to go to for your zoological needs! We saw many great animals learned interesting facts about them. I saw a bongo looking at me, and I looked back. In the year 2017, mid October is quite nice, and I liked that most of the animals were still on display. Other zoos have cut-n-run for regular visits, but this zoo sticks through it until the bitter end!

A really nice little zoo! They have a wide variety of animals that all seem to be treated well, with interesting enclosures and enrichment. The enclosures are generally quite small, but I'm aware this is a zoo and not a sanctuary.

The prices are quite reasonable (although be aware parking is an additional fee) and the zoo is great for kids and adults alike.

This zoo is the perfect size. I took my toddler here for a few hours and he absolutely loved it. From the free-range peacocks to the lion he is still talking about weeks later, it's a great place for little ones.There are enough animals to stay interested, but not so many that you feel obligated to stay here for a 6 hour zoo marathon. The exhibits are also pretty close together as well, which my legs were grateful for. The animals seemed happy, but the habitats seem pretty dated.

Very nice zoo inside a park. Paved walkways very accessible for wheelchairs (a little hilly in spots). Lots of trees & shade. Nice variety of animals. They rotate lions & tigers from outside yard to indoor space. It was amazing to see them so close up. Wonderful day at the zoo.

My daughter is 18 months and we got to the zoo once or twice a week. We live close by so we like to walk there often. It's a nice cheap day trip for us where we can pack our own lunch to eat there. We always make a stop for her to ride the ponies while there. I let her her out to walk and it takes about 1 to 1.5 hours for us to walk through the park. I am not sure how much older kids would enjoy it since it's not very big, but it's perfect for our family. We did Zoo Boo last year and had a fun time as well.

Good fun a great price. It's a small zoo, there's no denying it and half the exhibits are honestly dated/on the small side. But where else where you see a raven that talks? Or three bald eagles when put together, you'd get about two whole eagles?? OR WHAT ABOUT AN OTTER THAT IS MISSING HALF IT'S LEGS????? This place is fantastic if you go in with low expectations!

Very nice little zoo with very diverse species and some well laid out exhibits. The big cat/primate house and aviary are both very popular.
There is also a city park with picnic tables and a play set for kids.

Very nice clean zoo. The lion and tiger exhibit was so cool, you can get so close to them!! Also loved the penguin exhibit because the penguin were outside. The otter exhibit was also a favorite became it was bigger then most and had room for the others to run around. The park was great for having a picnic after we finished at the zoo.

Honestly, the zoo itself is okay. On the smaller side, but it's nice. The problem is there isn't anywhere to get anything to drink in the off season. Vending machines are turned off too. Even the gift shop is closed. Albino peacocks were pretty

Everyone says "Great Zoo". I remember Monkey Island and all the exhibits when animals were in each one. The zoo is nothing what it used to be. Of course a lot of that has to do with population and what we as a community can afford to have in our zoo. To think back on the old zoo just makes me sad.
