Love the lodge atmosphere, rooms are tidy and well decorated, but the furniture is dated. New furniture in the fireplace room. Food is good but not great. Love the location inside a beautiful state park. Love hiking, park programs, sitting by the lake, crafting in the craft room, playing in the gaming room, and reading in the library. Everyone is nice on the staff!

My husband and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary here. We stayed in one of the patio rooms with a breathtaking view of Lake James. The sauna, pool, and hot tub were clean and well maintained. We had breakfast at the inn's restaurant; great breakfast staples (biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs, toast, and hash browns) and large portions. The several fireplaces and common rooms were cozy and relaxing. We will be back in the summer!

My family had been coming to Potawatomi Inn for the past 20+ years to celebrate Thanksgiving. Every year has been fantastic. There is always plenty to do with friendly people that make you feel welcome. So much so we've come back a few times in the summer as well. If you're trying to decide if you want to come here or not, definitely do.

Great lodge and conference center. I have stayed here numerous times and enjoyed my stay each time. The food is excellent and the service is great. The grounds are beautiful. Stay here and you will not regret it.

Potawatomi Inn isn't fancy but it is clean, very comfortable, very friendly and a favorite place for me, my husband and my sisters and their husbands. The setting on Lake James is beautiful, calming and serene. There are all kinds of activities all year round: boating, hiking, a nature center, swimming, and a great toboggan run all winter long (if there isn't snow they make it; and the rails are frozen). The dining room is great and the food delicious. My sisters and I have met two friends there every year for at least 15 yrs. We have a blast.

We visited for the annual sea plane fly-in. Out group of 20 enjoyed the brunch buffet. It would be wonderful to truly be able to make reservations. Out group stayed at the campground which has average facilities.

I stayed here for one night with my family, we just wanted to get out of the house for a night. We stayed in room 116. The bathroom was really small and the shower didn't look like it was cleaned properly. The beach was beautiful and we loved the pool. The following morning we ate at the restaurant inside the inn. The food was good but the bacon looked undercooked and the eggs were just gross. We have stayed here in the past and it was a better experience.I have to also admit that the wifi was horrible.

My stay at the Potawatomi Inn was just an overnight one, but I swam in the pool, rented a bike, and ate two meals there. I enjoyed the scenery and the fact that I could rent a bike there, however this does not make up for the fact that the elevators and hallways smelled stale and gross, and the food was overpirced and clearly premade food service dishes. Don't know why they fired their chef.

Fantastic place for a family vacation. Clean open beach and calm clear lake great for all watersports. Jennifer in their reservations was AWESOME when we had a question or concern. Deena at the front desk was welcoming and friendly and Eli at the boat dock could not have been more helpful. From the abundant hiking trails to the convenient sand volleyball to the large rooms, they continue to improve. We have been coming here for 16 years and it just keeps getting better (upgraded furniture in lobby and lounges and new sheets).

The beds and bedding have all been replaced. Rooms are clean. Staff is accommodating and friendly. There is still plenty of updating that could be done, but it's moving in the right direction. We've been coming here about 14 years and it's great to see the place is finally getting some attention. The food is slightly better than it has been the last few years. We used to eat every meal here. Now we have decided that breakfast is decent. Lunch, meh. Dinner we haven't tried. All in all, we love this place.

The older rooms are a bit small but comfortable. The larger, more expensive rooms are excellent. There are excellent, long walks available (takes us about 5 hours to do the larger loop). Not much in the way of bike trails. Boat rides are available. The food is good and not too expensive. We have been there often--three times a year--and always come away refreshed after a two-night stay. Look for winter specials, i.e. two nights for one.

Enjoyed my time there. Couple things 1) Rooms were not very sound proof and at night heard kids yelling down the halls and a bible study talking very loud after they adjourned! 2) Went during the week and liked the 2 for 1 rooms, but I have to say that the older people did not want to give up their seats in front of the fireplaces. The same people were there all day long and I heard a couple of people ask other people to save their seats. Not once did I get to sit in front of a fireplace. Just an observation! and 3) Just a suggestion, It would be nice if there were a special section for dog owners and their pets.
I enjoyed the trails and the all that was available at these facilities. Will definitely plan on going again.

Really fun! I love the feel and such. My only complaint is that the wifi does not reach the rooms and if you want to use the wifi you have to go to the lobby.

We stayed in the "historic cabin" in August 2016. The bathrooms were not clean. There was hair on the walls. My 8 year old daughter doesn't know what a caulk gun is, but she could have done a better job caulking the bathroom than the maintenance crew. It looked really shabby, like no one cares. Having worked in the hotel industry, this speaks to the lack of decent management. I know the maintenance crew can to a better job caulking and the custodial staff can do a better job cleaning, so when there is failure at these levels, its the management. The walls were paper thin. I could hear every word coming from the room next door.

Our restaurant experience was also disappointing. The server greeted us with a very loud and enthusiastic "PRAISE JESUS". This weird greeting made me a bit uncomfortable, but not a big deal. When dinner arrived, the server explained that she was having the kitchen whip up some fresh mashed potatoes and that they would be out shortly. The mashed potatoes arrived 15 minutes after we finished our meal. They were ice cold, as in had ice in them. Complaining was not an option because we never saw our server again. We finally waited by the host stand so we could pay and leave. No booze either. This place sucks.

The hot tub had some serious chemical in it. We couldn't turn on the bubbles because it would cause our eyes to burn.

The pool was nice.
