Great spot in the middle of a mix of multiple shops and restaurants. Free WiFi but the password changes o.k. often and it can be found on your receipt. Had their Flat White and it was delicious.
This whole atea is cool but portals is the heart and soul of this area. It makes the otherwise bare center feel alive and there is coffee is top notch. Definitely would recommend!!
Portola, I've loved you for years. I even brought my whole family over to share in your wonderful coffee. Was it necessary to tell me to leave when I said I wasn't in need of a cup today? Where has your sense of community gone?
One of my favorite coffee spots in the area. I went to school in Oregon and what I love about this place is that they have a love for coffee and finding new flavors that reminds me so much of the culture in the Pacific North West. I highly recommend the Flat Brown. It's a flat white w/ chocolate ganache and it's my favorite thing on the always-changing menu.
I can't judge the shop fully because I only visited the place one time, seeing how I live in San Diego, but that one time I was recommended to get the Flat Brown coffee and the Pretzel Croissant. The coffee was the perfect combination of milk and sugar, and the Croissant has that salty taste at the end that made wanna go back and buy another one. Overall, I need to go back again to try what other choices they offer.
The coffee is pretty good, I had the Kenyan coffee.
The low score is because of how I was treated personally. I will start off by saying that all the people working that day were really nice and helpful. But they forgot about my order and I was left sitting at the end of the bar for 10 minutes. That's fine, I understand mistakes happen, even though there was only 1 other customer there at the time.
When one of the baristas noticed the mistake, he told me that he would refund the purchase to my card and I thought "Oh! That's incredibly nice of them, I love this place." It has been a week and a half and no such charge back has been issued.
I don't like liars.
Portola Coffee Lab (located in "The Mix" Orange County) is a stellar spot for coffee, laptop work, or hanging out with friends.
The drinks are a bit pricey, but that's to be expected with the in-house roasting and quality, fair-trade coffee beans. I had the iced mocha and it was a perfect balance of espresso and sweet.
There is indoor and outdoor patio seating. There are shops if you're looking to grab coffee and spend the afternoon shopping.
Overall, really great spot for coffee!
The characters serving are only exceeded by the coffee itself. It's my favorite treat. I love to introduce coffee lovers to Portola Coffee Lab. This has also become what my department at work brews. Every cup is rich with a variety of flavors. Usually the coffee I purchase for home and work brewing has been roasted the day before. Now that's fresh!
Unique menu of coffees. Don't let the line deter you from this experience, it i worth the wait and moves quickly.
They don't believe in making coffee they way a customer wants plus they only had a 12 oz cup for mocha's? are you kidding me.. when I order coffee I expect to choose my size not be told I can only have a small mocha.. won't go back there
Although it is a small location, very efficient and professional ! Can get busy in the AM and at least your waiting for incredible coffee/espresso and not mediocre! Honestly one of the best espressos I've ever had and I'm Colombian! :D
You can never go wrong with any of their coffee! Made with the finest beans and topped off with great service
One of the places I miss most since I left Costa Mesa, CA is Phil. I love coffee. I just can't function without caffeine in my system so you have to imagine how much I like Phil. I love the Ambrosia, Ether, and Soon Good! During sunny days, I like getting their Mint Monitor iced coffee. Sometimes I'll ask for extra mint because it's one of my favorite herbs and it just makes the drink for me even more enjoyable!
