Stunning views, great trails, stellar beaches. Access to so much land thanks to the State Park system, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, Conejo Open Space, and other open space organizations.
My daughter Sharlean had to do a report on something she had never done before and write about it, so she decided that she had never been backpacking. The islands were her first choice, then we decided to stay inland. I had been to this park before so I suggested it and she accomplished her first 10 miler here. Jaden came along and they both did great on the hike with full packs. So much great space so close to home.

One of my favorite state parks in CA. There are tons of hikes to go on, and I personally recommend looping the Scenic and Overlook trails. The ocean views are incredible and you get to climb up to a ridge. As you return, you get views of the canyon going inland. The hike is very easy, and the incline is easy on your legs as well.

This hike is a tough one if you are a beginner. The incline does a lot to you and the paths are narrow. But once you make it to the top and go back down it is worth it. I see families go up with kids and its amazing how easy they make it look but don't worry everyone cheers you on. Also, if you are a pet owner I wouldn't suggest taking them. They are not allowed but I see plently of dogs with their experienced owners.

Beautiful place to enjoy the beach. Nice big sandy area for sunbathing. Pay Parking lot ($3) restrooms available. Filming for various purposes is quite popular at the Park, so you may encounter a film crew but the staff at the park manage things very well. The frequency of film shoots is a great indicator of what a picturesque environment the park has to offer. If you are anywhere near county line it is a beautiful place to visit.

Awesome camping right on the beach. In the winter there is plenty of spots. They allow dogs (they must be on leash) This place is awesome.

Sycamore Canyon Campground - great location! Just outside the LA metro area but feels like another world away. Camp grounds and facilities were clean. Nice to be tucked back into the canyon with trees for shade and wind break. It was quiet, peaceful and not over crowded. Wish I had more time to check out all the trails. The beach was fantastic and interesting rocks to climb on. Highly recommended!

Great park! Easy hiking trails with great views of the ocean, clean campsites and great beach! The beach is perfect for hanging out in my opinion. Soft sand, no rocks on the shore that cut your feet walking into the water, and waves are nice and chill. The water is relatively shallow but enough to make boogie boarding fun. Came here for a church retreat and bachelor party. Lots of fun!

The campground was nice. The bathrooms were flush toilets but really not well taken care of - I've seen many latrines that were better cared for. They have showers that you can pay for hot water on. The campsites are fairly close together. But it is a beautiful spot and it's across the street from a nice beach. The beach was fairly clean. It was overall a nice place to stay.
