Too bad my friend used to ride dirt bikes too closely to this area and now has brain tumors of the worst kind. When I tell him my discovery of this place and it's radical waste, radiation, might be responsible I bet hell look at me all sick and say damn that sucks.

I lived adjacent to this site as a kid (like a mile or so) which was rather interesting with rocket engines being tested that shook the house and turbopump test at night that turned the whole night sky orange from the ignited fuel. They offer (or did) a tour to show the site remediation and they really are doing their best to clean it up.

I used to play in the hills around the SSFL as a child (including in runoff water after rains). Then I developed Thyroid Cancer as an adult, and my doctor told me that it was likely caused by childhood exposure to radiation.
