Signed up for a 12:40 appointment to get my next depo shot. Usually these appointments are a quick in and out. That is not the case for today. It is 1:45 and I'm still sitting in the waiting room. Why bother making an appointment?

I've had the most pleasant experience at planned parenthood. No feeling of judgement whatsoever, kindest staff I've met, and COMPLETELY confidential. I won't go anywhere else.

Nurses and doctors at Planned Parenthood won't judge you, and treat teenagers with respect as if they are adults.

I'm 17 and I was treated like I was competent (not at all treated like a child, which I've found my family doctor often does). They looked me in the eyes and were very professional. They were very confidential: I could check a box on one of the forms I filled out to make sure my information stayed confidential from my parents even though I'm a minor, and I was asked some personal information to be sure I was who I said I was. The forms were also very easy to understand and straightforward, so anyone could fill them out easily, which I liked.

The doctor and nurse I talked to were very respectful, and it seemed like they actually cared and wanted me to get the best care possible. I never once felt like I was being judged, which was something I was nervous about before I went in. They asked me a lot basic protocol questions, but they also joked with me and created a very laid-back atmosphere.

The nurse was young and took my vitals very thoroughly. I've noticed my family doctor (who is much older) tends to cut corners to save time since they've been doing it for years, and reads vitals (blood pressure especially) in ways that would be impossible to take an accurate reading. The nurse at Planned Parenthood, because she was younger, was not only more friendly with me but read my vitals more accurately.

I felt comfortable even though I generally wouldn't be comfortable in that situation (I have social anxiety and it was my first time getting birth control). I didn't know what I wanted for birth control, and they gave me a huge range of options and told me the effectiveness of each, and what I'd might want based on my situation. I felt like I had all the answers, and being taken seriously really helped.

I've been here several times, both for annual exams and for long-term birth control insertion (I use the implant). The staff have always been professional, warm, and helpful. Planned Parenthood is the *only* place I've ever been that believes me when I say I'm a small person internally and doesn't use the "has had 6 kids" speculum for the annual exam. I would never go anywhere else for my reproductive health care.

I've been to this Planned Parenthood once and only once. Here are reasons not to go here for an exam or prescription: The wait time was somewhere around 40 minutes once arriving for an appointment and the doctor was not particularly gentle. I was prescribed birth control pills and it took 20 minutes of waiting once I went to pick them up from the office. I had my prescription transferred to a pharmacy. The first time I had issues getting it changed to generic I had to call 2-3 times to get them to call the pharmacy. The second time I had to call over 3 times to get it changed AGAIN to generic. Both sets of phone calls were only over a three month period. Needless to say, I'm going elsewhere.
