A Madison and Willy Street tradition. Cozy restaurant with unique decor and amazing food and drink. Highlights are the bad breath burger and goulash. Try the mulled wine for a winter warmer.
Amazing little place with delicious food, great ambience! A little cramped, the person seated behind me was right up next to my chair so I almost didn't even fit between my chair and the table! I had the streak carne asada and it was amazing. My brother had the goulash and vegetables were perfectly cooked which is hard to do with a soup at a restaurant. Also had the key lime pie for dessert, again so delicious. Definitely recommend! And go early to get a good table!
Weary Traveller is warm, dark, and cozy with hard wood decor and the walls completely covered with books and board games. They have a great selection of draft beers, specialty cocktails, and delicious, hearty food. And don't worry, they have several vegan and vegetarian friendly options available!
I love this place. Smallish, neighborhoody, medium noise. Sorta small but good tap list, good bottle selection. The menu is quirky -- flank steak is my go-to, Babe's is walleye sandwich. Dark and woody. Small bar, two sided restaurant, street parking.
Great local restaurant with fresh food. Atmosphere is fun. Service was attentive
Really delicious food and good cocktails. I definitely recommend trying the chili it was so good and definitely filling. Perfect for a fall day.
They'll treat you right. Good-to-great food and excellent, adorable drinks. The kitchen is open very late, and has vegan chili! If there's a band I promise it's too loud, so you're better just turning around if you want to have a conversation.
By far one of the coziest places in town. Great beer selection. Imaginative pub food and cocktails with a worldly inspired twist (the Tom Ka is by far the best I've ever had.) Their Bob's Bad Breath Burger lives up to it's name in the very best way. Gracious and friendly staff put the experience over the top. 10/10
Tasty local travels style pub. Inside has a fun mix of art and kitsch on the dark wood walls. There are a few good vegan items on the menu, including one of my favorite local comfort foods: Tom Kha. So tasty! But, even when I'm hungry, the full bowl is too much. I end up almost painfully full. Go with the cup. Or share the bowl. For vegans, they've also got a south-of-the-border snack plate, a Mediterranean snack plate (ask for no feta), a roasted root veggie salad, and a chili (my least favorite--not my style of chili). They've got a fair selection of craft beers on tap and some good cocktails.
Though the food quality has gone up and down over the years, this is my standby and most favorite place to take anyone ever for any reason. (Reconsider the buns y'all use please) This will be one of my fondest memories of Madison once I finally leave the isthmus for the west coast.
I really enjoyed my dinner here. They were accommodating for dietary preferences, waitress was very nice. Food was GREAT.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Madison. I love the eclectic selection, though some entrees are better than others. In particular I like the west of the Andes and the bad breath burger. The service can be a little slow at busy times, but the bar can hold you over in the cozy environment.
The food here is usually good. The menu is varied in a way that is almost off-putting at first glance. That being said, I've never had a bad meal here. The burger is good of course, but so is the Tom kah soup, goulash, med plate and more.
The service can be hit or miss and the tap list could use some work, but I keep coming back because it just feels very comfortable.
Brought an out of town friend here, bobs bad breath burger for her and the reuben for me. Amazing! Also, really enjoy all the awesome decor!
