It's a real throwback atmosphere. It's always busy, but the kitchen is quick and capable. The service is personable and kind. The food is good with several combinations of various breakfast foods. They know what they do well and they stick with it. If you enjoy a casual southern atmosphere with an old English architecture and decor then this place is where you want to go.
The food here was excellent. Every time I vacation in Gatlinburg I make it a point to eat at the Pancake Pantry once. The staff are friendly and skilled at taking large orders. Considering the quality and size of the meal, I think it is more than worth the price. Make sure to bring cash and keep in mind that the ATM onsite only dispenses in $20 increments.
Best pancakes in the state. Great variety. It is very popular and usually crowded, but the line moves fast. Free coffee outside while you wait. Try the buckwheat pancakes.
This was an excellent breakfast joint. Superb service, handled their line and crowd excellently. Food was incredible only draw back food wise, too much Nutmeg. Overbearing. (I had the Sugar N Spice Pancakes). Anyway the thing is here I would actually recommend you and that's a high recommendation. Go further down the road, five minute walk. Crockett Breakfast Camp, equally great service, even better line management, (they take your phone number and text you when your table is ready allowing you to walk around while you wait and there is a line tracker! How cool is that?) Food is equal if not better than Pancake Pantry, and here is the kicker Crockett Breakfast Camp is much cheaper than Pancake Pantry. My wife and I went to Pancake Pantry $34; Crockett Breakfast Camp $24 equal food portions. Go to both and be the judge this is all in my opinion of course!
I've been here twice and both times were stellar. I would say don't waste your time on other menu items, just go for the golden pancakes. Perfect size pancakes, whipped butter, and warm maple syrup. Even if the line is long, it's worth the wait. Our line was wrapped around the building by 9am but it moved very quickly. They have the ordering, and serving down pat to get you in and out of there quickly.
Good food, but it's just like all the other pancakes you get in the area. The inside is beautiful. And the staff was friendly. Cash only. Which is weird
Went on a Saturday and did not have to wait. We had our 8 week old son and they were very accommodating by giving us a large booth out of the way where we could put the stroller. Club sandwich and pancakes were good.
Definitely a must stop if your in the area and are a pancake/waffle/crape breakfast person. It is expensive but a neat environment. Very busy when we went, had to wait a little over a half hour. My understanding is that it is always like that in the morning, may not be the place if you want somewhere fast or quiet. We all sample shared, and all pancakes and crapes we had were great and very fresh tasting, not too sweet. Might want to share your meals the portions are quite large.
Handicapped people might be advised that the only bathroom is upstairs
THIS PLACE WAS FANTASTIC. They have the best French toast by far. The line was long but we got in quick by the friendly hostess. The service was really nice. I read the reviews and honestly don't understand why others thought terrible about this place. They are one of a kind pancake house. There were no complaints about the restaurant by the people I was with. There is nothing bad to say about this restaurant. The waitresses had great humor and always were accommodating. I will recommend this place to anyone because it was great!
We ate the Pancake Pantry while on vacation. The customers line up outside waiting for their number to be called. We did not have to wait very long even though the line appeared very long - there were a couple large parties ahead of us. However, the restaurant does not take any form of payment BUT CASH. The only sign posted was at the front register (we did not even see it on the menu anywhere) -- which we missed due the crowd checking out but my son did see it. They offer an ATM right which is right up front but it does charge a $3 service charge (in addition to what your bank will charge you). This was doable and somewhat easy to overlook. But, the service was subpar -- we never saw the waitress after she brought out our food - could not even get the attention of other wait staff. No refills. My son and his girlfriend has water and they were tiny glasses of water - not a problem but she never returned with more water. My husband and I only received 1 cup of coffee -- no refills. The pancakes were good, the pigs in the blanket were good but the syrup was gross. It was very runny.like it has been watered down. Not sweet at all and had no taste. We will not return to this restaurant. I was very disappointed as I had heard so much about this restaurant and was excited. I see now from the reviews though that is pretty much a hit and miss type thing!!! So sadwish restaurants that are charging alot for their precious pancakes could learn some customer service. Had the customer service been top notch -- I might could have overlooked the cash only and nasty syrup. :(
Food and service was great. Server interacted with us and treated my family awesome. Make sure you bring cash, they don't take credit and debit cards. So glad we got a pamphlet in our Gatinburg vacation package.
The WORST Pancake Restaurant in Tennessee! ALL the food we ordered was from frozen and store bought boxes. Burnt coffee with only one refill. I brought up my concerns to the manager and was told that is just how it is . Zero apologies about the nasty flavorless food , tried denying the food was frozen not fresh how ever the servers told us yes it is frozen prepackaged items. To make things worse I was charged 80$ dollars for 4 people for breakfast!! They will not substitute out any pancakes for any of the fruit pancakes they just charge a whole order of them. One set of 5 blue berry pancakes was 10$ and a plate with just eggs and sausages added to that was another 12$ the total for my sons breakfast was 22$ !! I had frozen hash browns with very nasty sandwich cheese on them and it cost 15$. Almost 3$ for coffee and drinks . It would be different to pay that much for high end food but this was nothing more then you can get from the frozen section at walmart. I ate at different restaurants every morning for 2 weeks in Tennessee and this was the only bad experience. I cant not recommend this place to anyone I can only warn patriots of the over priced nasty food they will get. The store isn't as quint as the pictures they post its dark and they cram all the tables and chairs back to back so you cant walk through with out tipping its not handicap accessible . The manager could have be polite and apologized but instead he got mad and started being mean to me. I will never go back and I wont let friends and family either.
By far my favorite spot in the Smoky Mountains. The sweet potato pancakes with cinnamon syrup are so good! Plates come piled high with food, plenty of choices for everyone.
I don't think I've ever been when there's not a wait, but it's worth it. The line moves along, and the service is efficient once inside. They really do have a well-oiled machine.
Tip: plates of pancakes come piled high and can be easily shared between two people. We add a plate of bacon and eggs, each have two pancakes and are sufficiently full when we're done.
It was extremely over priced for the food. My daughter got sick after she ate her meal, which she ate less than half of it. When I was paying she went to the restroom at the restaurant and threw up. Then when we were about to leave she threw up again in the entrance. I took her over to a table to sit down and someone brought her a wet towel to clean up. The manager did not even say anything or offer a discount since it was their food that made her sick. My parents owned a restaurant and if that ever happened they would give the meal for free. They are retired now and when I told them what happened they thought it was appalling. I will never go there again and definitely not recommend it to friends and family.
It would not let me post with no stars, so I had to put one but it definitely did not deserve it.
