Visit this place regularly. A ton of planes to see and lots of information. Give yourself at least 2 hours to really take it in. You may get lucky and see some cool aircraft taking off at the airport. There was a P51 taking off when we were there last. The staff is amazing and will give you plenty of detailed information about all the beautifully restored aircraft. The B17 is stunning and you can tour inside it with a donation. (Well worth it!!). Always new stuff to see every time we go.
Great air museum with lots of planes. The new wing covering Korea and Vietnam was terrific. If I could find any fault with the displays it is in the Pacific World War 2 side. Although the aircraft are phenomenal, nearly every one is crammed in the hanger with wings folded which prevents you from getting really good views of the planes. Would love it if they could get them more spread out with the wings extended. Overall though, this is a great museum, with a great staff ready to answer questions! A must see for war bird enthusiasts!
It's so funny I never hear the airplanes that are leaving the airport in Palm Springs California but oh boy when they're putting on an air show I hop in my car and I go and watch lots of fun for some of those great old airplanes and then nothing is greater until you stop by the great airplane museum it's something different and unusual from the past it's great for the family oh I love it there!
Great place. Lots of cool aircraft and HISTORY! Folks there are very knowledgeable and you can tell they really enjoy being there. Good place for kids to learn, though there are only a few hands on exhibits. You also get to see a B25 take off!
Lots of airplanes from different eras, and they have presentations many weekends. We've seen Tuskeegee airmen several times (I've posted a video of one such meeting at my YT channel). We've also seen a German WWII jet pilot, whose life was saved by American doctors after he was shot down, and some scholarly presentations. Some of their planes can be flown -- nothing beats the sound of a P-51 Mustang buzzing the airfield at high speed!
There are many planes to see. Jets, helicopters, old uniforms and videos that you can watch on epic air and sea battles. Great for kids! Staff is really nice and very helpful. Most are retired Veterans so make sure to say Thank you for your service to our wonderful country! I will go back for sure.
Awesome place where you can get really close to the old aircraft. You could spend a whole day in there. Also a lot of veterans telling interesting experiences and staff with professional expertise.
Outstanding aviation museum. Extensive displays along with very knowledgeable and friendly docent staff. The exhibits are hugely varied and are extremely well maintained. It looked small when we first approached the facility, but my family and I ended up staying most of a day there. I highly recommend this museum.
Great visit & loved learning from the docent veterans. We asked if one of them would give us a tour & he led us around for an hour. Showed us how to climb up onto the planes as if we were the pilot & look in the cockpits. Really fun! So important to learn the history of these wars. Didn't realize all that our servicemen risked for our country! God bless them.
New hangar for Korean and Vietnam war planes. Very helpful docents. Models of the warships and carriers are so detailed. See if you can find the initials of the husband and wife who made them. A great gem.
This is a stunning museum. Incredible aircraft and amazing staff (many of whom are veterans with incredible stories).
This is a must visit for any fans of history or aviation.
Wow, a gem!! A great collection of aircraft and aviation materials. Friendly and helpful staff and volunteers. The library is amazing, a great selection of book and reference material. Try the flight simulators!!
This place was so cool! They have a library upstairs with so much information. Outside they have planes and a cute little cafeteria. It's right next to the airport so you get to hear and see planes taking off and landing. The kids had a lot of fun exploring everything!
A small but good museum. You can physically touch the exhibits and there are plenty of vets on hand to answer any questions and make suggestions. Worth the trip if you have extra time in Palm Springs. Top tip: pay the extra 5 bucks and take a tour of the B17 bomber. For anyone who appreciates machinery, history, or the movie Memphis Belle, it is a must.
