I hired NW Maids for a move-out cleaning at basically the last second when the first service I hired was a no-show despite having been booked two weeks ahead of time. NW Maids was more expensive than the no-show, but they earned every single penny! The cleaner arrived right on time, and seemingly had no problems with all the dust and grime left after the move of a disabled family member who had been able to do only basic maintenance cleaning while living there. Even though it took an hour and a half longer than she had initially estimated, she stayed until the job was done. It was an enormous relief after an emotionally and physically terrible week that this last task was taken care of.
After a lot of research, prices are competitive and the employees I’ve talked to seem to feel okay about the company. I have had two cleanings, out of three that were scheduled. The first deep cleaning was okay, but I felt like I would have done as good a job. The second cleaning didn’t happen because the cleaner hadn’t showed by 45 min after the end of my 2 hour arrival window; it sounds like there was a communication breakdown somewhere. My third cleaning was absolutely what I was looking for - Sunshine did a much better job than I’d do myself and was friendly and very efficient. She’s really a treasure and clearly takes great pride in her work.
Raised price on us TWICE after we got the original quote. Refused to honor the quote and became very vague and mealy-mouthed about the reesoning behind the price hike. They seemed not to communicate within the company.
Work was, at best, adequate. Barely. Rep did NOT explain what tasks were not included in their definition of "deep clean". The crew was contractors, not employees of NW Maids. We tipped and thanked them and they were nice folks but, contrary to what the rep promised, they did not leave "only when your house is sparkling clean". They didn't touch doors and windows, stainless appliances were streaky, and some areas were missed entirely.
The overall impression is of a company that aims to get your money ONCE and not worry about any sort of repeat business. The rate dispute was, as the rep admitted, THEIR mistake. I provided proper and sufficient information and they simply did the estimate wrong. If it was my business, I hope I would have the humility and sense of fairness to say, "Our bad. We'll honor our original quote". They chose not to. They seem ro want to make sure they get every dime they can, in case the experience sucks for the client. Good idea, I guess, because I will NOT be calling NW Maids again. The two stars is for the crew. The company would get no stars.
Cleaner did not wear a mask, smoked cigarettes in our backyard, left the pack on my kitchen counter for my children to see, did not clean my master bedroom and bathroom, did not vacuum out upstairs, left trash in all trash cans. No dusting, complained to to company and they gave me a 20 dollar credit which is an insult on a $270 dollar job.
Never use this company not reliable, nor professional second time in a row cleaners did a poor job.
I would give it NO STARS but this made me choose 1 or it wouldn’t post
Pros:
* Booking : Amazing booking experience.
* Rate transparency. Since the company charges based on purely square footage, etc its less manipulative like some other companies. No "at home estimation".
* Excellent response on messaging during bookings, advance rescheduling
Cons:
* If you miss an appointment (did not open door for cleaner), you are charged $70. If they missed your booking (cleaner did not show up or such), then they provide $50 cleaning credit. Not a very fair game. Another rating concern -> 2.5 bathroom is counted as a 3 bath.
* Cleaning is a hit or a miss. On some days squeaky clean, on others, meh. Cleaners are not constant, resulting in inconsistent results.
* For a 4 bed house, they send a single cleaner despite feedback provided. This causes 4+ hours of cleaning and exhaustion for the cleaner. Its understandable they dont have have many multi-person teams, but its a matter of discomfort for both the cleaner and the home owners which can be improved.
