Hot tub is closed forever, the internet is the worst I have ever seen. If it snows, the internet is gone, it rains, the internet is gone, nothing happens, the internet is still gone. The internet has been stopped and interrupted at least 10 times in the past year. Especially it happened when you were working for your final, I didn't even dare to take online exam at home at one point. Something more interesting happened, two weeks, internet shut off twice for WHOLE NIGHT, after that three days in a row, everyday around 10pm, internet stops working for 10 minutes! Every year they raise rent while the internet and services go down.
This place is decent for the price. if you weant nicer , pay more money. if you are fine with clean, semi nice apt this is for you
Even though I've seen reviews about poor communication with the office, I almost always have positive experiences each time I call or go in to talk to staff. Good location and fair for the price.
The Bryn has given me a "24 hour" notice that 2 new roommates will be moving in tomorrow. This was not a proper notice for 1) since it wasn't really 24 hours and giving just an email in the middle of the day when I work and my roommate is a full time student is horrible. 2) I am trans and before I moved in I had worked with the Bryn to make sure that I would be safe and that all parties would be comfortable with a transwoman in the apartment. Apparently that agreement I had setup is no longer valid and I am having to our myself here to make sure another trans people don't go through this issue as I did. It is appalling how they just turn their back on agreements like this. Not to mention we werent given ample time to make sure there was room for the 2 new people. Me and my roommate had just stocked the kitchen for us. The fridge and freezer have no room at all. If we were given more like a week's notice then we would have made sure that the kitchen and common area were organized to accommodate two new occupants.
place is a money grab, will charge you for anything and everything on move-out and probably keep your security deposit too. Amenities like pool, hot tub and gas bbq's aren't available or don't work. Hot tub is a cold tub. Beware
The apartment is quite old and our water heater died in November, when it was snowing, which left us with no heating or hot water. I would imagine that this was an emergency, yet it took them five days to fix this issue. The CAs (mostly undergraduate who are working part-time at the project) are nice, however, the new management staff (so the Bryn as opposed to Nittany Crossings) was rude, lost our move-in inspection form for a few days, and generally uncooperative and disorganized. I also noticed that for some reason Asians kept getting curt and unfriendly service in comparison to Caucasian residents (which is a sentiment both my roommates and I share) despite speaking perfect English and causing minimal trouble. The swimming pool (which should've open for all of summer) was STILL not cleaned in August, even though residents are paying for it. I honestly do not recommend this place by any means
I am very dissatisfied with the service available here at the Bryn. On their website, they advertise some awesome amenities, which makes the price worth while. However, they do not advertise that the amenities will not be available to residents for a majority of their lease term, even though they charge a $299.00 fee to all residents for these amenities. I had called the office to speak with the manager three days in a row, and conveniently, she was in a conference call all of the three days. I had left my phone number hoping she would return my call, but she never did. I emailed twice expressing my concerns. For the first email, I received a reply that said something like "this isn't our fault. You could go swim in the pool of the next door apartment complex." The second email went without a reply. I have been very professional in communicating my concerns with management, however I am very upset with the service I have received in exchange. I do not suggest living here. There are many different places in the State College area that offer the same amenities at a lower price and the amenities are actually available to residents. The management is rude and unprofessional.
The byrn, formerly known as "Nittany Crossings" is the worst place by far I have signed a lease with and here is why:
The amenities they offer are useless.
#1 For example, the complex is so far from campus that you either need a bus pass or a parking pass. You might as well purchase a parking pass because the vairo bus line is always full. I have been late to multiple classes because by the time it gets to the bryn the bus is already full.
#2 The Internet is the most dysfunctional internet I have ever used. It is incredibly slow and sometimes just doesn't work at all. You are better off paying for your own internet.
#3 The pool AND hot tub are only open for about 2 months during the school year. Although they promised the hot tub to be open year round, it was not.
#4 They offer a printing room that is completely unusable because there is either no paper or ink.
#5 my dishwasher hasn't worked all year and the maintenance crew is completely incompetent and will not fix it.
#6 The overall quality of the apartment (and I have the "delux" version) is cheap and worse off than many of my friends apartments that are much closer to campus.
#7 They fee you for the dumbest things such as decorating your balcony?
#8 The bed may as well be just springs with a tarp over it.
#9 I have had countless maintenance issues literally everything will break with just a touch.
#10 I had a service animal and when pairing me with a roommate she did not want dogs. Suddenly, they wanted all of my documentation + a letter from my doctor. Even when I gave them all of this they still threatened me with fines while I was walking my dog. On top of this they didn't even tell my new roommate that I had a service animal. Thank GOD she was okay with it.
I could go on and on but in the long run this apartment isn't worth it because of the expensive rent + utilities + parking pass (since the bus is always full) + Internet + my time trying to get the employees to fix things.
after new company bryn came in, service is alot better, office people are always nice, smiling, they try to help you out nicely. Maintence people are nice as well, very quick fix. they came and fixed other stuff too ! parking system got better too. nothing to complain for this price. I don't work for this company lol I've been living here for over an year so far and I've never had a problem. (oh, walls are kinda thin, easy to hear, except this I am happy)
The worst apartment I lived. I stayed only for 2 months and office staff were very nice until I finalize the lease. After that whenever I go there they do not care at all and they think we are as a burden
Further, I have lived in over 5 different places before this place including on campus but no one charge me for minor things such as replacement of blinds. I am 100% sure I did not do anything to blinds and still they charge 35 to replace it. Probably you can buy that blind for 10
During my 2 months period they wanted to change the furniture and ask us to take all the stuff away from bed, dresser and desk. But they did not do anything to the desk and left mess after putting new furniture and we had to clean
Another thing is utilities. They are just passing it to us and sometimes even people are in the lease they leave for vacation and do not want to pay the bills. If office keep the responsibility and give each person their share it would have been much better
If I write I have 1000 things to write
Please do not go there. It is the worst. You can find much better places for the money you throw at this place
The only reason why this place deserves 1 star is because of its pool and club house other than that this place is terrible! One word to sum it up INCOMPETENT. The people working in their office including management are rude, lazy, and INCOMPETENT. They will lose your rent check and after about a month magically find it thus clearing out your bank account. They will try to charge you late fees even though you paid on time and never apologize or admit to their mistakes. Their maintenance who are not even qualified for their positions, come into your home without announcing themselves to do absolutely nothing. They will lock you out. If you ask them to fix something because trust everything in your apartment will breakdown at some point, they will come in to "look at the problem" come back unannounced of course and fix nothing! Our toilet kept flooding we had to call them over 6 times after they came to "fix it" before we got a new toilet about a month later. This place is just terrible the rent price is okay but save your money and go anywhere else. RUN AWAY!
