Leon is amazing. He will spend the time to explain anything about the different refrigerator or air conditioner options. He does not push to sell you anything instead informs you to make your best decision. We had our refrigerator fixed and stayed in town to have him look at our AC too. We believe he is one of the most ethical repairman we have ever dealt with and appreciate what he has done for us. We highly recommend him.

To start, let me just say that you can't go wrong with Leon.
That said, I waited a few weeks before posting this review to make sure the work done by Leon was operating as expected……which it very much is.
My situation was this. My brand new Norcold 18 cubic foot refrigerator was not keeping up…and the weather was hovering around 75 degrees outside with mostly cloudy days. The inside frig temp was about 50 degrees during the day and around 42 at night when the temps were in the 50s. The freezer was OK.
I took my RV to Leon since everyone in the Shipshewana, IN area said he was the guy to go to. Before even looking at the unit, he told me that at least half of the problem would be venting…..and he was right. He took some laser temp readings of 230 degrees above my refrigerator behind the vents, and the fans had not yet kicked on. Seems that Norcold, in a rush to get the largest absorption refrigerator to market, introduce a terrible design. First, the cooling fins for our 18 cubic foot are the identical fins as used in their 8 cubic foot…….which Leon showed us in his garage. How ridiculous is that. Second, to compensate, Norcold thought a 2nd fan would help, which it might, had it been directed at the cooling fins, which it wasn’t. Leon also found that the flapper between the two fridge doors was not closing allowing the heat to get in and cool to get out, which explained a lot of the water in the evaporation tray.
So in all, he installed an ARP controller to take the place of the Norcold controller. So what, it voids the factory warranty. I’m 6 months in on a 12 month warranty. And from what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t want to take it back to Norcold anyway. The ARPs were designed by a retired engineer who had problems with his fridge. The ARP will better control the fans. Leon also installed some baffling to direct the 2nd Norcold fan across the cooling fins. He installed a 3rd fan on the backside of the upper vents to draw more air through and out of the backside of the fridge. And he also fixed the flapper.
Before he did all the above, he took an hour and a half of his time to explain what he found, what he recommended and what he wanted to do……..all this while the RV rep was there with us. At the end of the day he only charged us one hour of labor and at a rate far less than you would find at any RV repair service.
We’ve since had our RV out in 85 degree temps in the sun and the unit is holding fridge temps of 35 degree and freezer temps in the low teens on a setting of 5 out of 9. So I’d say everything is working, mainly due to Leon.

He saved me time and money by telling me how to check it out myself, instead of paying him to do it. He was very patient. I have a lot of respect for this outfit.

Leon is amazing, I own a trucking company and he has worked on or replaced several of our refrigerators. I also purchased three new roof airs for my RVbest price and service anywhere in the country!

I had been struggling with a Norcold 1200 and then while on a trip down south, my basement a/c started to fail. I had both looked at while on the trip and again when returned home. A friend suggested that it would be worth the trip to northern Indiana to see Leon at National RV Refridgeration. It certainly was. He had arranged to have a basement a/c at a fair price and in less than a day, they put an Amish cooling unit in my fridge and replaced the a/c. The labor was at a very reasonable rate and both jobs took less than 1/2 the hours quoted by my local shop. There are nice restaurants in town I stayed the night before service in their parking lot, but there are at least 2 RV parks near. There's Bontrager's RV surplus store 10 miles north on U.S. 13. I found an antenna which I've been looking for. All in all, you can't go wrong if you need a/c or fridge work with them.

My Dometic RM7401L, an absorption propane fridge in a Roadtrek/Sprinter van stopped working on LP. Three shops were unable to properly diagnose or repair at my expense and were too willing to replace the unit with new. Leon spent better part of a day trouble shooting & testing the cooling unit only to discover a faulty propane solenoid valve. Leon replaced valve & reassembled at a reasonable price. I could not be more pleased.
