Even when it's crowded, I LOVE going to the Apple Fest every fall with my college friend. If you go with a large group, don't expect to stay together. There is so much to look at, and waiting for your group all the time takes away time to see it all!
This is a wonderful experience I would recommend to anyone who loves fall and it's nostalgic smells!

This is a fun festival. So packed!!! But a lot of apple related stuff, demonstrations, and crafts. A great slice of rural Pennsylvania culture. Urbanites and suburbanites can pretend their country folk for a day. Kitschy!

If you want good barbeque this place is ok. If you want games, rides, or fun for the whole family don't go here. There aren't any. There are like 6 food items in the entire affair that have apple in them. Hardly an apple festival. There are many much better festivals than this.

This year was my first time ever going to this festival and I can't even describe how much i enjoyed myself! I got a beautiful handmade sweater with sequins and tassels and its perfect for the cold weather as it is so warm! I got to spend time with my family (whom i rarely get to see) as well as introduce them to my new baby. It was a great time and I hope to get the chance to go again next year!

Not to be missed. Only two weekends a year. Great food, entertainment. I suggest buying one of the mugs which then you get free soda refills all day..and, bring your mug back and get discounted drinks for all day.

Flew from Oklahoma to attend this festival and do the sites like Gettysburg, etc. We enjoyed all the different antique apple machines and fall foods but wished they had more than hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries to eat. The biggest majority of foods were sweets like apple cotton candy, pumpkin funnel cakes, etc. As far as crowds, the trick is to get there early. We were there at 8:30am and the crowds and parking were not bad at all (on Sunday). By the afternoon, it was quite crowded but that's to be expected for a festival. And yes, it's muddy but not so much that you couldn't walk around it. No need for rainboots.

My husband and I went for the first time last year (2015). I was expecting a quaint, small-town PA apple festival, but this is something else entirely. You park in big fields with HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of other cars. You wait in LONG lines to take a school bus to the actual festival. We paid the entrance fee ($20 total, I believe), entered the festival and immediately wanted to leave. Honestly, there were far too many people. We couldn't see or enter the craft booths because of the crowds. When we were able to get something to eat, there was no place to sit. Every time I walked to an empty place, someone would either beat me to it or say that they were saving the spot for someone else. After eating our burgers on some hay barrels near a barn, we left. I wish we could have gotten our money back. We were there less than 30 minutes (It took us 1 hour to drive there). The only saving grace to the entire trip was stopping at the Round Barn in Gettysburg.
