Great thing to do to see West Virginia the 8 hour train trip is a little too long.

Great staff, really helpful during my reservation process. Shane was excellent at customer service, love the lil store tho could have more variety of snacks and sodas. They offer 6 different trips, including a Halloween, murder mystery, and polar Express trains.

Took the ride to High Falls in the parlor car. Average food. Spectacular views. Train needs some maintenance.

Nice train ride, but a little disappointed. Just can't see enough of the beautiful countryside you know is out there. Train buffs would probably enjoy.

Kids had a blast on the Polar Express. Only bad thing is the cups of chocolate have gotten smaller through the years. Expensive hot cocoa! Lol

We were there to ride The Polar Express. We had a great time on the ride but experience could use some improvementseveryone is in costume but when you reach the north pole, the only one in costume is Santa. His elves/helpers not so much. They were all wearing jeans, sweatpants etc. With them standing next to Santa and waving to the children as the train arrives, they need to dress the part as well! Nowas far as their "restaurant" I highly recommend you NOT eat there. You will be better off driving a few blocks and dining at Mcdonalds. We paid for a family of 4 to eat there after our train rideit was absolutely awful. Not one person in the entire dining room ate their food execpt for the salad and rolls.

Took the polar express ride. Only downside is the train is diesel. Coal fired steam would have been more authentic.

We did the 8 hour Cheat Mtn Salamander from Elkins to Spruce. Train was late due to one of the engines having issues. This threw the whole day behind. Each stop, Spruce and the Falls, were cut very short so the train staff could make up time. Was a very long day to spend on a train and not enough time at the stops. Food was okay, just sandwiches. Wish we had more time at the stops. I'd recommend anyone wanting to do this, to skip the 8 hour ride and just do the 2.5hr one.
