Love shopping at this little store. A very unexpected gem in a quaint little town. We visit every time we come to Sewanee.

Mountain Outfitters is one of those fun places to walk around and see what they have to offer, the store has the best vibe. It is so unique for the area! You can find all sorts of neat camping gear and unexpected gems!
The employees are very knowledgeable, I haven't been to a store with that kind of customer service in years. They are willing to help and answer any questions you have and they are all incredibly friendly.
I tend to compare prices in all outdoor stores and did not find any mark ups -- in fact there were sales on items that are full price everywhere else!

Best Outdoor Retail Shop I have ever been to!! Seriously, the customer service is out of this world. I have worked in retail for 20+ years so I know the game! Each employee was enthusiastic and willing to help me with anything I needed (especially in the shoe department with hiking boots which I am totally clueless about!) NOW LETS TALK ABOUT UPSTAIRS -- 50% OFF EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING AND ALL YEAR ROUND. WHAT??? I got a Patagonia down Jacket that was originally $400 (which came out this year) and PAID $200.this is unheard of.
Anyways, great job Mountain Outfitters -- Ill be sure to be back on the Mountain from NYC as soon as possible.response / report this review -

Nothing but great things to say about this store! Great prices, friendly and helpful staff, big selection of inventory and awesome sales! Went in for their summer sale and bought a heavy Woolrich jacket for 50% off! In you're in the area it's definitely worth the stop!

I love shopping at mountain outfitters! The store is such a cool atmosphere, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I went in to the store before a camping trip (which I was completely unprepared for) and their staff worked with me for over an hour and helped me find the essential supplies and the best prices. Plus their sales are great! I highly recommend making a trip up the mountain to visit this place.

Great selection and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Other reviews report that prices are high, but I disagree. The prices are comparable to other outdoor stores. They have quality products.

I love coming in this place, but everything is expensive. I'm sure its all quality stuff but way out of our budget. There are; however, great deals on clearance items when the seasons change and the need for new seasonal stock comes.

Regularly have good sales on out-of-season items, sometimes up to half off! The staff is very knowledgeable and eager to help.

Product was shipped promptly but had to return because of the fit. Their return policy is awful - pay your own shipping PLUS a $10 restocking fee. Not such a great price when I'm out $25 and still had to buy shoes somewhere else.
