WOW!!! If you can afford it, DO IT! I only did a day visit to the Spa (the classiest one I've ever seen). Got their legendary namesake full body massage then facial. Each lasted about an hour and a half. My husband had to drag me out! If we hadn't had a plane to catch he would have failed. I got a private tour of the entire facility. I want to retire there. Everything is top notch, first class! Inside and out every view is breath-taking.
Mohonk has beautiful grounds, great hiking, and it is an incredible escape from reality. We love going there for the day to hike. It is too pricey for us to stay overnight or use their spa but we love going there anywhere. We had lunch a few times in their dining hall and granary which was excellent every time. Again, do to cost, we most often just come to walk the grounds.
One of the most beautiful hotels I have ever been to. Great place to go, even if you go for a day trip to enjoy the scenery. The grounds at Mohonk are gorgeous. The hotel itself is pretty amazing just to look at. I've been here to hike, had brunch and dinner a couple times, but have NOT stayed overnight. The staff was always top-notch.
The hotel is old, and it shows a bit in places. Wooden stairs creak, and the interior decoration in sections can be a little odd.
With that said, though, the food was excellent, and the drinks were pretty good. The area is, of course, beautiful, although the nighttime hiking restrictions and the "constructed" feel of the viewing areas served to undermine some the "pristine" natural scenery. The gym is about what you expect from a hotel gym, although the hours are pretty restricted.
Overall, a pleasant hotel, in a pleasant area.
Mohonk Mountain House is in an absolutely beautiful setting. The mountains and fall colors were breathtaking, and the whole property felt very secluded. The building itself looks and feels like a castle, and I received very good service while I was there. I found the food to be lacking, but my colleagues seemed to disagree, so your mileage may vary. Definitely try out the labyrinth hike!
Great hiking trails and beautiful grounds. Highly recommend trying the labrynth tail. Hotel was not modern or very updated but it was nice, clean, and historic. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was nice, the BBQ lunch at the granary was awesome, and the dinner was good but small portions. Was a little pricey but will definitely plan another trip in the future.
Beautiful place to visit for a day! Entrance fee was $22, as the whole thing is a private property. Hiking, climbing whatever you want. Beautiful lake and kayaks are waiting for you! Victorian castle - amazing architecture! Turned into the hotel. Most visitors of hotel are older people.
There is also a blooming garden with a lot of flowers right next to the hotel.
Good place to visit with a family or friends!
My husband and I come back here again and again! It is our "go-to" couple spot. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and "just because" weekends. It is so calming, relaxing and romantic even with 3 weddings going on at the same time, there is still a place to relax and get away. We had an amazing couples massage for our anniversary two years ago-- it was delightful and we really enjoyed ourselves. We have been to the brunch twice as well, and the cuisine is fantastic. We really enjoyed the brunch buffet. We will be going back! :-)
Just spent the long weekend here with my husband for our anniversary. The views are absolutely amazing and gorgeous! We greatly enjoyed the hikes, especially the ones we did with Naturalist Michael, who was great! His knowledge and passion for nature was evident in each hike we did with him, making the experience especially enjoyable. The night hike is one worth taking for a great experience of nature in the dark and star gazing. Secondly, the food was phenomenal. I don't think we have had such amazing food - breakfast, lunch, dinner and desert were all delicious. The presentation of each meal was perfected and the service given by the wait staff was also above expectations for any resort, attending to every need of the guests. We loved it here and would recommend this place to family and friends!!! Hoping to come back one day for some more hiking and relaxation!
I have been to many spas both in the U.S and around the world. This is not a spa the hotel/house is run down with stains on the carpets in the hallways. The hallways are not even leveled it is truly run down. The individuals who work in the spa do not even know how to put the steam machines on properly to your face. They tell you to bring your bathing suit so that you may enjoy their mineral pool. The so called mineral pool is actually a jacuzzi for a max of 6 to 8 individuals. The only thing they do is apply lotions/oils to your face and do not remove white or black heads. For $165 this is outrageous you can get a much better facial at top locations in NYC for less and get a much better quality facial by properly trained employees.
Do not get ripped off with these ridiculous prices with employees who are not properly trained to perform the services advertised.
I didn't stay overnight at the resort but I went up for the day, getting there was incredibly easy and it's very secluded and private. The views are unreal and the golf course is very well kept. Would recommend anyone of my family and/or friends to go there
Mohonk Mountain House was everything we expected and more. The scenery is beyond beautiful — images don’t do justice. The staff was welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay, and any requests were done in a timely-manner. There are plenty of activities, both indoors and outdoors, to do to keep occupied; if you’re just looking to relax, the spa and a walk by the lake are great options. However, the most memorable activity of the weekend was our forest bathing session with Nina Smiley. The session is about mindfulness, learning how to be fully present and in the moment, without judging. We conversed with Nina while walking alongside the lake. Through mid-session, we sat down overlooking the lake and Nina emphasized the importance of breathing, focusing on the now, clearing the mind of thoughts. She asked questions and quickly understood the way our minds functioned. Before we could finish a sentence, she knew exactly what to say and how to help. By the end of our session, both my boyfriend I felt this is a skill we want to practice and master. During our time together with Nina, we both were able to focus on our breathing, our thoughts, and control what we feed our minds. There were times Nina was able to read our minds and help us come back to the present when she anticipated we’d sidetracked ourselves. It was a truly magnificent experience that we hope can continue. We look forward to our next session with Nina — she started something impactful.
This session, or just mindfulness in general, isn’t only for busy/stressful lifestyles; it can apply to anyone and everyone. It’s a skill we all need to empower and practice.
Thank you Nina!
The grounds and food are top notch. I would have given this review 5 stars but feel what they now charge cannot be justified. I have been there 5 times in the past 10 years. They have increased their prices so much that I am now looking for other options. The spa is beautiful however more options for beverages and food upon completion of your services are needed. Tea, grapes and tap water doesn't cut it. You pay top dollar for their services.
Great hiking at the resort but not in winter as most interesting trails are closed to hikers even when there is little snow. However, the adjoining Mohonk Preserve had hiking trails open. Enjoyed cross country skiing in the winter when snow was present. Snow shoeing also available. (Skis and snow shoes available for loan to overnight guests. Equipment was in good condition.) Good food. A little pricey but many services included. I've been lucky enough to be there with discounted conference rates. Not sure I would stay otherwise.
Everything about this beautiful place is fabulous. The house itself is breathtaking. Very cozy & inviting. The entire staff has been friendly, helpful & lovely. The spa is rated the best in the country and it lived up to it! There is a lot to do (we like relaxing) but heard the skating is great & the hiking incredible. Lastly hats off to the chef-the food is unbelievable. Every single meal has been amazing. I have never had such delicious, creative & beautiful food!!! I wish I could live here ;)
