Their staff now is much friendlier than they used to be. The new building is beautiful. Great looking kennels and cat rooms.
MHHS is a great location run by professionals, and this place is also amazingly well-built for a humane society. My girlfriend and I came to this location one Sunday looking for a cat. Although they had sparse offerings, one of the staff recommended a cat they had loaned to a local Petsmart. We drove to that location, and fell in love with him upon first sight, and he has been with us ever since.
Much improved very clean neat dogs and cats given a lot of stimuli. Dogs out for play time and divided into a couple of wings. So sound was decreased. They had a few bunnies and a very nice store.
So as of now one star due to these reasons I went in to look at a dog I wanted to adopt the dog potentially and asked about it was 5:30 in the place was closing at 6 she told us that the information she could give us she looked it up on the computer after she said she couldn't and then did and told us that the dog was available for adoption and that he was a nice happy-go-lucky dog we were going to bring our dogs in the next day to visit with the dog after we met him and if everything went well we would have dropped him when we went the next day I had my dog's ready to go and the lady told us there has been a mistake the dog has already been on hold and will be on hold until the end of the day I said well isn't the whole 24 hours and she said well there's been a mistake as if she didn't know why there was any reason for there being a longer hold than 24 hours but if there is a 24-hour hold we came in at 5:30 p.m. and the dog was not on hold then and then the next day at 11 a.m. the dog was on hold apparently from the day before or even the day before that and she didn't know and she didn't tell us any more information. All we asked was that she call those people and find out if they were still interested in the dog or not if they were not then we could look at him and maybe take him home but she did not want to call them and she told us she would maybe call them later in the day and if she did not get a hold of them the dog would still be on hold until the end of the day and I said so at 6 then or 5:30 we could come back and and get him out and probably take him home and she says no well it would still be it would have to be the next day so therefore if a potentially interested person was to take home the dog and now the dog is on hold for up to however many hours past 24 hours now the dog may not be taken home by those potentially interested people but left on hold and then never adopted or not as soon as he could have been. The lady was just very unhelpful and did not seem concerned with the welfare of the dog and she was really just not very informed and only kept stating we make mistakes I made a mistake I made a mistake will that make of a mistake could be a mistake for the dog as well and I think she needs to realize that
Adopted our beautiful Maine Coon, Chloe, from this shelter! Chloe is the sweetest cat. She has added so much joy to our lives. I highly recommend this facility for anyone who's considering adopting a pet. You won't be disappointed, and the state of the art facility is amazing!
The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, "the pound"! Please give a homeless pet a new home! they also have medical services for your pets, by appointment or emergency. But the fees are similar to other veterinarian cost with the exception of spay and neutering. Spay and neutering cost are reduced for people that are living on fixed or low incomes, and sometimes free. You can also get pet food if you need it, but sometimes they run out. There is no cost for the pet food. If you must surrender a pet, this would be your best bet. But please do not surrender your pets. Please just love them.
NEVER BUY AN ANIMAL FROM HERE, THEY SOLD ME AND MY FAMILY A 10 YEAR OLD (THEY TOLD US THE CAT WAS 3) AND WAS HEALTHY (THE CAT HAD CANCER) AND ONLY LIVED LESS THAN 6 MONTHS FROM THE DAY WE BROUGHT HER HOME - NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE, THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL PRACTICES - IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE 0 STARS I WOULD - INCREDIBLY DISGUSTED WITH THIS PLACE
They help animals. They're all compassionate about their jobs and you can tell. Very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff!
I have 2 cats and a dog. All came from here.. I Love my animals
My husband and I adopted Dozer now named Diesel and we couldn't be happier, couldn't have picked a better dog! He's amazing and I'm so happy we chose Mohawk to adopt from. They were so kind and helpful, very personable and easy to work with. The animals are well taken care of here. I'd highly recommend them if you're looking for a companion.
I adopted a beautiful boxer mix. The process was easy and I received a ton of great information before I adopted my new friend. I look forward to seeing their new facility next year when it's done.
