Mitsua is a great place to buy Asian groceries in general, but if you go, plan on stopping at the food court, too. There are a variety of Japanese restaurants there (as well as one Korean one) And save room for dessert! The ice cream shop and the Japanese crepe place are both superb. I think a lot of people go there just for the food court And don't worry about not speaking Japanese - while some of the customers may not speak English, all of the employees seem to. Bring cash or plan on getting it at the ATM - some of the restaurants are cash only.

So much good stuff. A bookstore, full grocery store with home goods, cafeteria, alcohol shop, sushi to go. And more! The only thing to watch out for is a rising tide of unfortunate American kids thinking they should dress up awkwardly because they think watching cartoons makes them fluent in Japanese culture. Beware them, but Mitsuwa itself is a treasure.

We love Mitsuwa and the food court is awesome with a variety of different foods. We love the bakery with unusual items.
We love the bookstore and grocery and I always pick up a bottle of plum liqueur when I visit
The only thing that would improve it for me is a mobility scooter to use due to my handicap. Our last visit was marred because my scooter had a dead battery and was not able to get around and had to leave earlyresponse / report this review -

Great grocery store with so many options for you to try. The staff is friendly. My wife and I love to go eat in the cafe (which is cash only fyi) and the food is just incredible. Its fresh fast and authentic. If you are in a rush they have prepared sushi and meals at the counter you can pick up pay for and leave in a minute, super easy. I highly recommend the rice balls from the sushi counter. I could live off of those for the rest of my life!

The food was beyond delicious. If you have never had an experience with Japanese food, I highly recommend here. They have multiple vendors and restaurants in the cafe. I wouldn't describe it as a cafe as I would describe it as a food court in a mall. I believe some of the food vendors accept cash only so be prepared before coming here but the food is great, there is a coffee/ice cream place too and it's inside a Japanese market where there also happens to be a bakery. Mitsuwa is well worth the visit no matter where you come from. GOD BLESS.

Stopped in after landing at O'Hare. Nice bookstore with Japanese curios. Fountain pens are overpriced, however. Very interesting and inexpensive Asian fare in the cafeteria. We had a tempura platter as an appetizer. Has a large grocery store too.

Any place that sells real wasabi has to be good. And this is one of the best Asian markets in Chicagoland. Plus, the restaurants have some great foods and the bookstore is top notch.

The groceries prices are sometimes high. It's good place for buying Asian food. The cafe has a good selection of asian food. It very good.

A truly unique shopping and eating experience! Walking into Mitsuwa is like walking into Japan itself. You'll be pleasantly overwhelmed by the amount of food options (which include more than just Asian dishes) in the foodcourt-style eating area. However, on weekends at lunchtime, tables are scarce. There are also shops for Japanese media, toys, and other goods. If you're in the the area, I recommend you stop here!

My whole family loves their thousand layers cake but it is kind of pricey. $9 for a slice of cheese cake, and the guy asked me for tips when I'm ordering cake for to go. They have limited seats in the food court, and their chairs need to be replaced. The one that I sat on the chair cover was broken. It made me feel like having a 5 stars hotel cake at a flemarket.

Good place for some Asian-focused shopping. Solid selection of food for Japanese cooking. A decent food court but restaurants come and go too quickly. The bookstore is nice and it had a pretty great selection. This place is pretty popular with its target demographic but also the young 18-24 crowd as its super trendy and knows how to cater to that.

Absolute wonderland. Their bakery and food court have delicious food and the selection of fresh and imported groceries are amazing! Wish I lived closer but it's always worth the hour drive to get there and spend the day. One of my favorite places, and is a joy to go to not only have a wonderful experience, but to bring home a mixture of goodies to cook and indulge with.

Hard to believe this is the same place I visited years ago. It's a shell of its prior glory days. When the Japanese staff left so did the quality standards. If you are ok with American standards​ or a little less,then you won't mind the visit. However, if you are Japanese or have spent a reasonable time in Japan you will not be impressed!!! At one time, I was crazy about the quality this place had to offer. I'm am sad to say that I can find this quality literally anywhere.😧
