The Guys from Mendel did a great job. I've had other local plumbers in who all came with an agenda. Paul explained the work being done, the prices and expected results. Best of all he provided options. We caught a real potential sewer back up early and they were able to clear it and provide confidence that the solution was appropriate. I will use these guys again.

Very pleased with the quality of the product and the workmanship. Eric did an excellent job of installing my water heater. Very meticulous and courteous.
Definitely plan on using them for my heating and air conditioning as well.

Called for an ac tune up and estimate on a new system because we thought the current one in our new house was an older system and with a small child and animals that are sensitive to heat we didn’t want to have any issues come summer.
But Anthony, our tech, was extremely thorough and let us know that the system wasn’t as old and we thought (even though it looked in really rough shape on the outside) and that he didn’t see any need to replace it. He explained all the tests he was running and cleaned outside part so well it looks like it’s brand NEW!

Returned to home after vacation to find furnace not working. Temperature outside was only 15 degrees! They came out immediately and had to replace furnace next day, offered to bring in portable heaters, but our fireplace worked for us. They additionally replaced the AC as both were 20 years old and offered a nice discount to do both. The entire team of technicians were great to work with. Very efficient, professional and genuinely capable in getting everything done timely. Highly recommend this company. Always have great service from them!

I use the services of Mendel Plumbing for HVAC equipment in my home. This appointment was for the preseason cleaning and inspection of the furnace. The tech came with shoe covers, on time, with a great smile. He introduced himself and verified the purpose of the visit. He asked if there were any additional concerns I had. He kept me informed of his progress. When the service was completed, with no problems identified, he asked if I had any questions. I have a service contract with Mendel so the only charge was an air filter for the humidifier

Technician was on time and completed the job to my satisfaction . He was able to explain that they check on the humidifier in the spring as oppose to the fall which allows them to service all customers in a more timely fashion especially when the weather changes from summer to winter. I did not know this and was appreciative having him share that with me. It points out that Mendel is always thinking on best they can service their clients and making changes when it makes sense. Outstanding Mendel! Thinking of ways to improve service always a plus for its customers.

I recently received several quotes from Mendel. One of them was for installation of a cellar door over my stairwell. I asked several questions regarding the quote including material costs vs. labor. I was researching to see if the Mendel quote was higher or lower than others. I was met with much hostility from the Mendel employee. It was as if asking questions was not allowed. He also told me that they raise the cost of materials to cover things such as company insurance. I have saved these emails and plan to call the owners. Also, another quote was received which included very unnecessary "fixes." I am disheartened as I thought we had found a company in our area that we could rely on.

The alarm on my sump pump woke me up at 1:30 in the morning. Noel was thorough in taking the information and getting me set up for a visit from a tech, who actually arrived ahead of time. Mike T was very professional and courteous. He quickly identified the problem and explained my options and the risks with each choice. Within an hour he was finished and all is back to normal. I've used Mendel for over 20 years and their professionalism and reliability keep me coming back when I need help.

Dave was awesome!!! It was a last minute sink drain problem right before my sisters were scheduled to arrive. He was very knowledgeable, and patient with me (as I know nothing about plumbing) and explained what he saw and gave what I felt was great customer service with great recommendations. He discussed several options with me and we went forward with the best value to meet my budget and repair needs. He also took the time to look at some other concerns that I had in my house and supplied great, caring recommendations based on his experience. Dave was also incredibly personal, from the minute that he arrived, until the second that he left after a job more than well done. Dave was great! Actually, everyone I have come into contact with at Mendel has been superb. What a super group of talented, trustworthy people Mendel hasthat do everything they can to provide nothing less than stellar service.

As a result of the leak discussed in my last review, I had a hole in my living room ceiling. It is a very attractive plaster ceiling and I was concerned that it be repaired with care. Steve L. more than lived up to my hopes. He came by right on time and within just over 2 hours, he had put in new drywall and three coats of plaster. It looks great. My brother-in-law couldn't even tell the repaired part from the original ceiling. Also, Steve is a very pleasant guy.

9/14/17: A bulge in my living room ceiling alerted me to the fact that something in my upstairs bathroom was leaking. Mike T. showed up the next day and traced it to the flange that connects the pipe running from my bath tub drain to the pipe that connects to the tub overflow. Repairs were complicated by the fact that the ceiling needed to be opened up; the pipes are ancient (see previous review); the risk that loosening them would crack pipes "downstream;" the original piping was assembled in such close quarters that the replacement PVC probably wouldn't fit in the space available (which would require a "box" in the ceiling so as to provide additional space); and the ancient drum trap was shot. Oh, and there was also a leak in the shower cartridge, and there was a risk that the house's ancient shut-off valve, once off, wouldn't come back on. I feared a disaster.

Mike T. did a great job. Working in very tight quarters, he replaced the drum trap and all of the piping "upstream" from it in a single day. He was able to engineer the connections in such a way that a box wouldn't be needed, i.e., the new drywall for the ceiling could be flush with the rest of the ceiling, and he did it all without triggering any complications in adjacent piping or with the shut-off valve. Plus, he's a really nice fellow.

Then, to top it off, when the shower line got clogged the next day, he came by and fixed it at no charge even though the cause was not his doing. All in all, excellent service. Dave Hicks

I had a steady drip of hot water in the ancient (1940), galvanized lead faucet for my basement utility sink (connected to equally ancient piping throughout my basement). I also had a clogged drain. Every joint was green and crumbly with age, and I was worried that any attempt at repair would create a much bigger and more expensive problem. Jeff H. explained the options and risks very patently and thoroughly and came up with a conservative approach that solved both problems for a very reasonable $284. He is also a pleasant fellow to be around.

I can not say enough good things about this company - they really go above and beyond.

Mendel has an outstanding reputation in the Fox Valley area and are known for their work quality and professionalism. I've experienced it first hand.

When an accident occurred during the repair, they bent over backwards to not only make certain it was fixed, but they did extra things to make up for the inconvenience. They didn't stop until they were assured that I was completely satisfied.

It's hard to find quality people that give that level of service and stand behind their work to that degree. Bravo! Will recommend to all and can't stop singing their praise.

Ron and Matt were very nice people and very professional and knowledgeable about their trade. They talked with me about the repair and provided me with enough information to decide the best course of action.

Jim came out on a Saturday afternoon to repair a leaking pipe in my crawlspace. His work was timely and professional. I've contracted with Mendel before. They do excellent remodeling and repairs, and their staff and installers are easy to work with and very knowledgeable. I've never been disappointed.

Mike Z was a fantastic professional. He listened to our ideas and suggested ideas. We've used Mendel many times and always satisfied. Aryn came here to redo my dryer vent completely from tubing to vent hood. He did an extremely excellent perfect job. There is nothing that I could even have asked to be better. He was very helpful, answered all my questions (which I always have too many of), was friendly (even to my pup), was tidy and thorough. I am just so pleased with how it turned out. Who would think you could get so excited about a new dryer vent, but if you saw mine now, you would understand. I love working with Mendel. Thanks so much. Fantastic service, quality repairs, I just can't speak highly enough of my visit today. Gosh knows the day before Thanksgiving having a leak under your sink isn't the best way to wake up. Jason was extremely knowledgeable yet remedial with his delivery since I knew nothing technical. I felt extremely comfortable with the process, pricing, and overall had one of the best customer services experiences I have had with any in home profession.
