Why are the Mecca Park security people acting like bully police - demanding money and blocking my exit? I was taking PICTURES on a BEACH and my exit was blocked by these people demanding money. No greeting, no 'welcome' no anything except demands for money. Why are you all acting like bully police people?!. What is going on here? I do not need your permission to turn on my camera. If anyone has questions, State representatives, park representatives, actual police, I have the whole incident on video. I was TAKING PICTURES on a BEACH. What if I did not have a camera? What then? Is this your protocol for VISITORS to your PARK???? The only thing that was mentioned, eluded to, or talked about was your demands for MONEY and PERMISSION. Make sure to have YOUR MONEY and be ready for BULLY SECURITY here.

My fiance and I camped here for 1 night in March 2017. We made a reservation online, which told us we would be assigned a spot upon arrival. When we got there, we realized we wasted $8 on the reservation fee because there was only 1 other group there. We arrived at sunset and the view was really nice. Great view of the Sea from the spot. The Salton Sea smell was present but it wasn't too bad. The site we chose had a little bit of trash at it. Easy access to view the Sea. Plenty of picnic areas nearby (of course you'll have a picnic table at your campsite, anyway).
My only 2 complaints (besides the smell) were
1. The train on the street there goes by constantly throughout the night and woke me every time it came through (felt like 1,000 times when you're trying to sleep), so be aware of that.
2. The fire pits are so tall that you cannot watch your fire if you're sitting in chairs beside it. Likeliterally, you can't see it at all. We moved the picnic table closer to so we could sit on that and watch the fire.
Otherwise, it was a find campground if you feel like camping by the Salton Sea.response / report this review -

Extremely windy but stunning location on a great beach. Cold showers but can't complain at $5 for a hiker / biker site!

20$ for tent, warm showers- solar heated- not hot, quarters needed, flush toilets- private toilets and showers, nice restrooms.
Nice tent sites, trail, good views of sea at distance, up close still the odd salton sea.response / report this review
