Place was fantastic, very homey atmosphere with warm people working there. Complimentary cornbread was delicious and even getting something as basic as a chicken sandwich was amazing. I also highly recommend the home potatoes as a side. Great vibes

waffles were awesome. Chicken was good. Got harassed by homeless person on way back to car. Everything to do with restaurant was good, especially SiSi our waitress.

The food here is pretty awesome! Pretty good Soul Food Spot. The location is kind of sketchy but still okay. The chicken and waffles as their main dish but of course and it's really good. The wing-dings honey-glazed is the bomb-diggity! I didn't too much care for their fish though. And they have really good green fried tomatoes.

I went for the food and the experience. However the workers were a bit loud and and tab unprofessional. We ordered the chicken and waffles. For one waffle and 3 wings I think they are overpriced. My chicken was not hot, even tho it say expect at least a 30 min wait because they are made fresh that was not true we had our food within 7 or 8 mins of us ordering. To say for $30 we left and was still hungry. In addition to them not been able to accommodate no onions in the home fries for someone that was allergic to them. Overall I might return and try something different.

No organization what so ever, was overlooked several times for seating. The host sat people he knew over the list that had been generated. Very bad experience for my first and last visit. Myself and a coworker go here for lunch anywhere from once a month to once a week. The service is top-notch, the food is amazing every single time and I will continue coming here. Rarely there is a longer-than-average wait, but the food is worth it. I recommend this place to everyone I know and will continue doing so. The sunshine is amazing!

I've been here twice while on vacation - still fantastic years later. You should try the fried green tomatoes. The fried chicken and waffles are very good, but so was my grilled chicken sandwich. The cornbread and peach butter they serve is awesome too. Everyone who works here is constantly busy and the service is good. Everyone is charming. One of the things I look forward to when visiting Indianapolis.

Was told this was the best Chicken & Waffles spot around. If this is true then i must check it out. After all i've sampled such dishes in LA, Houston, Atlanta, Chicago. Lets see if it measures up.

The chicken was good. Large pieces and fried well. Super juicy and flavorful. But where was the seasoning laced breading? The crunch? Peach Butter hut the spot. The Waffle depends on the butter and syrup to make it all work. Wish they made more of that stuff available initially. Its like 50 cents per serving after that! Ah..they teased me! Fried green tomatoes were sweet and had that seasoned flavor from the batter.

PStheir R&R tea is basically an Arnold Palmer. Still really good though

I would rank this tied for third with another place in Chicago. Begs the question, "Is the best fried chicken i the south only?"

My husband and I ate here for the first and our whole experience from the food to the service was exquisite!! We ordered the chicken and waffles, strawberry pancakes with chicken strips, and the fried green tomatoes and man was it delicious!! We will definitely be back here to enjoy the other menu items!

Maxine's has been good each time! I always go with the waffle and wing! Great each time! The mac and cheese is scrumptious and this past time I had the friend green tomatos! The tomatoes itself were good but the dipping sauce wasn't my thing! Definitely a must try!

I've gone a few times and always in a group of 2 or 4. The food is amazing- I love the sweet potato waffle with peach butter. It seems there are a lot of complaints about waiting for food but I never had this issue and maybe Sundays are busier (sounds like they are Christian and try to limit the work they do on Sundays maybe?) or certain times

My 1st visit was a private event to raise funds for a summer camp, food was served buffet style and excellent. Went again with a family group of 20 yesterday (Sunday) service was terrible but the food was good. We waited 2 1/2 hours after placing our order before the 1st plate arrived. The waitress brought them out slowly, 2 at a time. With long gaps between each trip. Some of the wings were not done, and the people who had them were afraid to send them back for fear that it might take 2 more hours to get them replaced, so they took them home in doggy bags to finish cooking them. The insult was having to pay an automatic 18% tip for such bad service. You know this group will not be going back. We can get good food & better service somewhere else!
