I am relatively new to the area, moved here in 2015 and struggled to find a good stylist for many months. Thank God I found Matthew, an accomplished, professional, experienced stylist that gives me an excellent haircut. I am an executive who is very picky about my hair. Matthew Salon provides a great atmosphere and skilled stylists that exceed my expectations. Matthew is a pleasure to be around and I thoroughly enjoy my visits to his salon. I highly recommend Matthew Salon and Spa to anyone.

I recently moved to Syracuse and got my hair cut here for an event. It was recommended to me by a friend of a friend, and I was told to ask for a specific stylist who I won't mention the name. It looked great for the event- different from what I'm used to- but decent nonetheless. A few days after the cut when I washed and styled my hair, I realized my hair was very uneven and not styling the way my hair flows. I had also worked very hard to grow my hair out long, and the stylist had taken off way too much. I was horrified and mad, seeing as I thought that if I was paying a high price at a higher end salon I'd be getting the best cut in town, but not so. (If I wanted cheap haircut I'd get a cheap haircut.) I ended up going to my old stylist who lives an hour and a half away for him to fix the job and was happy to pay the $80 I'm used to paying, on top of the botched job I got. I almost went back to Matthews salon to get my money back and tell them what happened and how I had to pay someone else to fix it, but I let it go, so here's my review. 2 stars for the styling, docking 3 for the bad haircut combined with the high price.

Kirsten always does my hair and she's fantastic! She always takes the time to really find out what I'm looking to have done and will always readjust at the end if, let's say I wanted it a bit shorter. She's patient, professional and is always very friendly! I'd highly recommend that if you were going to this salon you ask for her! 😁

I had my hair and makeup done here for my wedding, as well as my Bridal party. Very good prices, they were not inflated, like other places do. And excellent work!! We all looked gorgeous, some guests even thought I had airbrush done. Highly recommend Matthews!

I got a call around 9am on a Saturday (I'm not much of a morning person) and asked if I would move my appointment to noon instead of 1pm and accepted the offer. I showed up around 11:50am and then waited till about 12:30 for my stylist to come get me to cut my hair. While I was waiting, the receptionist asked if I would pay up front and also asked if I wanted to tip the stylist that was going to cut my hair even though I had never met her before and hadn't even gotten any service, I ended up tipping my stylist just to be polite. I asked for my bangs to be kept long and to cut my hair close on the sides and the back of my head and received the opposite. Lest be said, I'm going to the barber today to get my hair fixed. The staff were very friendly people, but all in all I'd say it was a pretty unprofessional environment as far as the quality of the haircut and the service I received for 33 dollars.

I've gone to this salon for haircuts off an on over the years and have always had a good experience. I've never felt rushed or ignored like some of the other posters said. All in all, it's a pleasant enviornment with friendly stylists.

I'd love to be able to write a review on the spa services, but the rudeness and lack of caring caused me to stop my experience with my attempt at making an appointment. First, I called this spa 3 different times in one day. The phone rang. And rang. And rang.. you get the picture. No one answered ANY of those 3 times (once at around 11am, once around 2pm, once around 5pm.) When I called back the next day I was given the run-around by the girl on the phone, she was completely un-helpful with helping me put together a package, and really didn't care at all that I was going to be going elsewhere due to her attitude. The only impression that I got of this spa is that I was an inconvenience, not a person, or a potential customer. I'll be going elsewhere. Don't bother wasting your time on the phone call.
